Zooplankton dry mass measurements from Rectangular Midwater Trawl1 (RMT1) samples during POLARSTERN expedition PS106/2 to the Arctic Ocean

Dry mass (mg DM m-3) of zooplankton bulk samples was measured from samples of Polarstern cruise PS106 (SIPKA). Samples were taken with the RMT1 net with a mesh size of 320 µm. Each sample was fractionated onboard into the following size classes: 0 – 0.5 mm, 0.5 – 1 mm, 1 – 2 mm, 2 – 4 mm and >4 m...

Description
Summary:Dry mass (mg DM m-3) of zooplankton bulk samples was measured from samples of Polarstern cruise PS106 (SIPKA). Samples were taken with the RMT1 net with a mesh size of 320 µm. Each sample was fractionated onboard into the following size classes: 0 – 0.5 mm, 0.5 – 1 mm, 1 – 2 mm, 2 – 4 mm and >4 mm) and frozen in petri dishes at -20°C for dry mass measurements. Each size fraction was freeze-dried for 48 hours and subsequently the dry mass was weighed to the nearest microgram.
