Bulk δ13C and δ18O stable isotope data of ODP Site 171-1053

ODP 1053: bulk δ13C and δ18O Stable isotope dataset: This dataset contains the 13C and 18O isotope data from 70 bulk sediment samples (at 1 cm sampling resolution) from ODP Site 1053 core 8, Section 5. Samples span 74.54 to 75.20 m in composite depth. Data was collected in 2021 and span a 1 M.y. lon...

Description
Summary:ODP 1053: bulk δ13C and δ18O Stable isotope dataset: This dataset contains the 13C and 18O isotope data from 70 bulk sediment samples (at 1 cm sampling resolution) from ODP Site 1053 core 8, Section 5. Samples span 74.54 to 75.20 m in composite depth. Data was collected in 2021 and span a 1 M.y. long late Eocene Interval, Priabonian in age, that corresponds to the CNE19 nannofossil biozone of the Priabonian (ca. 36 Ma; Agnini et al., 2014; Raffi et al., 2016). Bulk sediment samples were collected from ODP Site 1053, in the Blake Nose, NW Atlantic Ocean. This dataset has a regional resolution and was collected to further investigate the regional paleoceanography of the Blake Nose during the Late Eocene. The analyses were conducted at MARUM Isotope Laboratory (Bremen University) using a Finnigan MAT 251 gas isotope ratio mass spectrometer with Kiel I automated carbonate preparation device. Data are registered relative to the Vienna Pee Dee Belemnite international standard, determined by adjustment to a calibrated in-house standard (Solnhofen limestone). The deviation of house standard over the measurement period was 0.04‰ for δ13C, and 0.05‰ for δ18O.
