Description
Summary:Carbonate (CaCO3) and particulate organic carbon (POC) fluxes at the central station of the LTER (Long-Term Ecological Research) HAUSGARTEN observatory in the Fram Strait at two depths intervals (213 m, 2319 m) from a one-year time period (24.06.2014 to 15.07.2015). Samples were collected with two modified automatic Kiel sediment traps installed in a bottom-tethered long-term mooring. The CaCO3 flux is given as total flux and as flux excluding aragonite, which was determined using the mass flux from pteropods. The three parameters were determined as described in Bauerfeind et al. (2009, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.dsr.2009.04.011) shortly after sample retrieval. The carbonate and POC fluxes were determined for comparison with mass fluxes of planktonic foraminifera and set them into relation to each other.
