Description
Summary:The data contain processed multichannel seismic data from the Namibia continental slope. Multichannel seismic data was acquired on R/V Meteor expedition M49/1 and on R/V Maria S. Merian expedition MSM19/1c using the high-resolution seismic acquisition system of the Department of Geosciences at the University of Bremen, Germany. During cruise M49/1, two Sercel GI-Guns were employed alternatingly, one with 2 x 1.7 L volume and another with 2 x 0.4 L chamber volume. The Syntron streamer used for recording consisted of a 600 m active section with 48 channels at 12.5 m spacing. During cruise MSM19/1c, the multichannel seismic data was acquired using a Sercel GI-Gun with a chamber volume of 2 x 1.7 L as seismic source. The recording unit consisted of a 100-m 16-channel Teledyne streamer with a channel spacing of 6.25 m. Shot interval was 10 s resulting in shot distances of ~25 m at a ship speed of ~5 kn. The employed seismic sources yield a frequency bandwidth of 30-400 Hz with a dominant frequency of ~150 Hz, resulting in a vertical resolution of the processed data (1/4 – 1/2 signal wavelength λ) of 2.5 - 5 m. Seismic processing was carried out with the commercial Schlumberger Vista Seismic Processing Software and interpretation with the IHS Kingdom Software package. The data were band-pass filtered, stacked and migrated with an emphasis on high resolution imaging and noise reduction. Velocity fields were picked interactively for NMO-correction and migration. CMP bin distance was set at 5 m.
