Summary:After graduating from DePauw, Phil Ault took a job with a newspaper in suburban Chicago. During World War II, Ault traveled to Iceland, Algeria, Tunisia and England as a war correspondent for United Press, sometimes working alongside Ernie Pyle. Ault later served as London bureau chief for United Press, where he supervised a young journalist named Walter Cronkite. Ault was also the first assistant managing editor for the Los Angeles Mirror-News; executive editor of Associated Desert Newspapers; and associate editor of the South Bend Tribune.
