Summary:This study is a continuation of research which began in 1974 aimed at investigating alternatives to chlorination for controlling biofouling in power plants. The present study focused on the following areas of research which were shown by the original work to offer the greatest promise of success: continuous low-level chlorination; dechlorination; condenser antifouling treatment optimization; toxic coating; and freshwater ozonization.
