Summary:The Yakutat Tlingit Tribe (YTT) was awarded Strategic Technical Assistance Response Team (START) assistance from the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs (OIEPP) in 2014. The intent of the grant was to lower energy consumption at both facilities (Kwaan Plaza which houses the medical clinic and the Community Center which housed the Tribe’s 477 Social Welfare Programs) and to explore technology to provide electricity and heat to the Kwaan Plaza.
