Description
Summary:The South Pole Telescope (SPT) observes the cosmic microwave background in order to answer questions such as how old is the universe, what is the universe made of, and how has the universe evolved. The telescope is in its third generation of upgrades (SPT-3G), but much work has yet to be done to reach full operating capabilities. When fully deployed, it will increase the mapping speed by a factor of 20 over the previous receiver and increase sensitivity significantly. SPT-3G is observing for four years from 2016 to 2019.
