Description
Summary:In 2002, two pure pairs of Yellow-legged Gull Larus michahellis nested in the outer harbour of Zeebrugge, Belgium. In the vicinity of these pairs, also two individuals were found interbreeding with Herring Gull Larus argentatus and Lesser Black-backed Gull Larus fuscus , respectively. The pure pairs both produced three fledglings. This is the first instance of pure breeding pairs along the North Sea. It fits well in the ongoing northward expansion of the breeding range of this species.
