Summary:Vasili Milgichil provides a short autobiography in his living room, with Valentina Dedyk listening. I had been working with him and Nina (sitting on his left) for several weeks, transcribing Paren recordings by Plepova and others. He talks about his childhood and relatives in Itkana and Paren and his adult life with Nina in Manily. Nina’s autobiography follows. Nina Nikolevna records her autobiography with Dedyk and King (depositor) listening. She talks about her childhood in Mikino and Manily and her adult life with Vasili and leading Fakel, conducting folklore research, and providing names of many relatives. Nina's husband Vasili is director of ensemble "Fakel." ?Nina taught dance in the children's music school, and has been moving back and forth between Manily and Palana for about 5-6 years as of 2012. Also fluent (listening, reading, some writing/speaking) in English and Japanese. Alutor level is elementary. Learned Russian as 4th language starting in grad school and extensive residence in Kamchatka (1995 5mos, 1997-98 17 months). Had very good conversational skills by summer 1997 and fluent by early 1998, at least in listening. Has thick American accent. Knows a few words of Koryak for social situation.
