Description
Summary:Volodya tells several stories and remembrances from his life herding deer and other adventures. He tells one shortish myth. Three original files are combined into one. The first pause was the phone or something. The second pause was caused by the batteries dying. Several times the phone rang, and I (depositor) pushed the pause button to suspend recording without creating a new file. This is clear from the phone ringing in the background. Later Tankai told us that he was 'под мухамором'(pod mykhamorom), under the influence of fly agaric, when he came to talk to us. Works in Institute for Advanced Teacher Training, Palana. She was born in a yaranga on the tundra. Learned Russian as 4th language starting in grad school and extensive residence in Kamchatka (1995 5mos, 1997-98 17 months). Had very good conversational skills by summer 1997 and fluent by early 1998, at least in listening. Has thick American accent. Knows a few words of Koryak for social situation.
