Lots of clipping on first song played by Apo, as she was right next to recorder, which I moved after she finished that song. Next file continues uninterrupted. Near the end is just conversation, as it has gotten dark and everyone is a bit tired. Speaks Russian fine but infrequently. Husband was Even. Sometimes uses Even words in conversation. Works in Institute for Advanced Teacher Training, Palana. She was born in a yaranga on the tundra. Also fluent (listening, reading, some writing/speaking) in English and Japanese. Alutor level is elementary. Learned Russian as 4th language starting in grad school and extensive residence in Kamchatka (1995 5mos, 1997-98 17 months). Had very good conversational skills by summer 1997 and fluent by early 1998, at least in listening. Has thick American accent. Knows a few words of Koryak for social situation.
