| Summary: | The "Assiniboia", a sister ship to the "Keewatin," was also built in Govan, Scotland by the Fairfield Company in 1907. Like the "Keewatin" and the "Athabasca," the "Assiniboia" was too large to navigate to canals connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes. All three ships, owned by the Canadian Pacific Railway, were cut in two and towed through the canals to Buffalo, New York for rebuilding. The cost ranged from $8,000 to $75,000 per vessel. After sailing the Great Lakes, the "Assiniboia" was returned to the Atlantic coast in September 1968. The ship burned at West Depford, New Jersey November 9, 1969 and was scrapped at Fieldsboro, New Jersey in February 1970.
