Summary: | The lower, tan-colored till was deposited by the Des Moines lobe of the Wisconsin age Laurentide Ice Sheet, which flowed into this area from the NW over terrain underlain mainly by limestone. The overlying reddish colored layer is a till deposited by the Superior Lobe, which flowed through the Lake Superior basin underlain by iron-rich Precambrian rocks. Both till deposits are overlain by a coarse, glacio-fluvial deposit. |
