Summary: | A new subspecies of planktonic foraminifer, Globoquadrina pachydenna pacifica n. subsp., has been recognized in USNS ELTANIN cores 3-5 and 3-6 from Quaternary deposits of the southeastern Pacific Ocean, near South America. Its diagnostic features are a high-spired test with pitted wall, 4-6 chambers in the last coil with the last chamber usually being shifted over the umbilical side. 3554 specimens of this subspecies were recovered from the cores. |
