| Summary: | Se determinaron algunas características físicas y biológicas de la columna de agua en Bahía Chile, Isla Greenwich, por medio de la distribución espacial de temperatura, salinidad y clorofila "a", durante el verano austral (febrero de 1990). Las distribuciones verticales de las isotermas, isohalinas, isopicnas e isolíneas de clorfila "a" muestran que la circulación predominante es termohalina, influenciada por la topografía de la bahía, con un flujo subsuperficial que entra por el lado noroccidental de la misma y se dirige hacia el centro (siguiendo la topografía), aflora en el extremo interior y sale superficialmente por el lado oriental. Some physical and biological characteristics of the water column in Chile Bay at Greenwich Island have been analyzed through the spatial distribution of temperature, salinity and chlorophyll "a", during the southern hemisphere summer (february 1990=. Vertical distribution of isotherms, isohalines, isopycnes and isolines of chlorophyll "a" show what the dominant circulation is basically termohaline and influenced by the topography. There is a water mass entering the bay by the northwestern side and moving towards the center (following the topography), then it upwells, with a returning flux going out superficially by the eastern side.
