Information culled from inserted notes, compiled for research before purchase at auction in 2001: the Black Eagle was built in 1851 in Sag Harbor, N.Y. and was owned by Wade & Brown (Starbuck states ship was owned by Thomas Brown, whose business partner was Oliver Wade.
