Summary:This is the oldest document in the Nyack Library's Local History collection. "To all to whom these presents shall come - The trustees of the Orange Town Library send greetings - Know ye that the said Trustees do here;by admit Teunis I. Smith to be a member of the Corporation of the said Library, and that he is entitled to one share in the property thereof - In witness whereof the said Trustees have caused their common seal to be hereonto affixed this fifth day of July One Thousand seven hundred ninety & six. - By order of the Trustees T. Taulman Treasurer" A wax seal is affixed to the paper or parchment. The document is enclosed in a frame.
