Description
Summary:An original sock angel, handstitched with button legs. The dolls are based on the artist’s Abenaki relatives who made and sold baskets and other souvenirs out of their home in Lake George village The doll is made from stuffed sock, with sock arms and legs made of stringed buttons. The dress is simple cloth. The hair is dark yarn, heald back by a woven headband. A stick runs horizantally across the dolls back, acting as a backboard. The doll clutches a woven basket, and the eyes are small beads. Artist Statement: "Lucinda came from Canada with her parents. They settled in the Lake George area. She continued the family tradition of basket-making. She often wanders through the forest picking up cones and seeds to put in the basket shop her father owns."
