In this case the transmission of avian flu virus from man to man becomes real, which favours a major pandemic with a mortality up to 70% . The purpose of the paper is to analyse the existing data in speciality bibliography on ethyology, epidemiology, clinical symptoms, methods of diagnosis and treatment of avian flu. Pericolul virusului gripei aviare tip A H5N1 constă în posibilitatea asocierii virusului cu cel al gripei umane. În acest caz ar deveni reală tarnsmiterea virusului gripei aviare de la om la om, care va favoriza pandemii majore cu o mortalitate de până la 70%. Scopul lucrării constă în analiza datelor existente în bibliografia de specialitate privitor la etiologie, epidemiologie, tabloul clinic, metode de diagnostic şi tratament al gripei aviare.
