Description
During the first tow years of this project we mainly collected common species just as the first year in order to supply the analysis quickly. On the third year we emphasized on collecting special taxa. All the specimens conserved in TAI. The populations of these species are small or scattered, and some of them are located at protected areas. To avoid impact on natural environments, we tried to transplant some rare or small-sized species in green house to cut the aerial portion of the plants several times. We have collected some rare species in this way, including Woodwardia harlandii Hook., Tectaria fauriei Tagawa, and Pteridrys cnemidaria (Christ) C. Chr. & Ching. After analyzing the distribution pattern of species what we collected, the distribution of them scatter on the most vegetation type in Taiwan, for example tundra, subalpine coniferous forest, cold temperate coniferous forest, cool temperate mixed forest, warm temperate broad-leaved forest, subtropical broad-leaved forest, and the most species are from low altitude subtropical broad-leaved forests in northern Taiwan. To get more materials, we also collected plants in eastern part of Taiwan, or got them from cultivated individuals.
