Description
Summary:(Translation of a 1912 German document.) In an earlier paper on the skin of the North Atlantic Balaenopteridae (1907), I briefly described the structure of the hair and showed that the earlier concept of the whale hair as a rudimentary organ wholly lacking in nerves is incorrect, and that on the contrary, it is very abundantly supplied with nerves. The present paper presents the results of my studies of the hair of baleen and toothed whales, which have now been concluded. NRC publication: Yes
