Description
Summary:SfD,rtrdi P'xe LANDSCAPE/NATURe "Arctic Twilight" taken by Martha Pearson (right) This picture depicts a little known treasure in the northern most area of Norway, just above the Arctic Circle. Tromso is a small island surrounded by mainland and contains multiple harbors like this one. It is located at the latitude where during periods of the year locals can enjoy the midnight sun. Second Place PEOPLE AND CULTURE: "El Anochecer de Barcelona" taken by Katherine Melheim (above) As the sun sets on the most popular district in Barcelona, "La Rambla" experiences a temporary period of peace and quiet. In this time of transition you can become lost in the beauty of the sky as it reflects off the open sea. The sweet sound of one single saxophone carries on the salty breeze as the crashing wave keeps time. Third Place PEOPLE AND CULTURE: "Behind the Facade: Cesky Krumlov"' taken by Brandon Wente (below) Cesky Krumlov is a town in the Czech Republic set up to look like the 15-16th century. Much of the town, including the castle has been preserved in a uniform manner to give the cultural perspective of coming from that time. This picture shows the town today. Third Place LANDSCAPE/NATURE: "Rushing Tranquility" taken by Daniel Templin (left) Taken while hiking in the Swiss Alps above the town of Lauterbrunnen. First Place PEOPLE AND CULTURE: "The World Through Your Eyes" taken by Emily Meyer (left) One goal of Justice Journeys is to learn about the culture we are immersed in. The 35 young boys who lived at this home taught our group so much about living in their culture and how to see the world through someone else's eyes.
