There is a busy spring ahead and the societies on the campus play a large part in it. AZP With "Maytime" as their theme Alpha Zeta Phi literary society will present their annual break-fast at 6:30 tomorrow to honor the new pledges. Jeannine Anderson is assisted by Evelyn Campbell and Fern Rasmussen on the general arrangements committee. New pledges include Doris Bjer-kan, Helen Hanson, Catherine Berntson, Marlene Rognlie, Delo-res Christianson, Priscilla Johnson, Jeannine Wyum, Margaret Ander-son, Ann Teigen, Claire Jensen, Eloise Halvorson, Helen Straabe, Harryette Albert and Betty Lou Jorgenson. Team Marlys Carlander Gives Senior Recital The Books But Not With The Bottles By Marlyce Jacobsen Every day at four o'clock little Kenny Baseman anxiously waits for his mommy to come home from school. You see, "Mother is a fresh-man." Mrs. Edgar Baseman, a former Wave, said she couldn't disregard the opporunity for education given under the GI> plan. This opportuni-ty in addition to an earnest desire for education resulted in her en-rollment at Concordia the second AIRS. BASEMAN studies while tending little Kenny. semester for a 12 credit hour course including English, sociol-ogy, religion, child care and piano. Sociology is her primary interest. "When I first started, I went just because of the plan. Now, I want to go, and I would like to go next year also/' Her objective is to attend Concordia until the GI plan expires. Because she won't be able to be graduated, Mrs. Base-man is getting the subjects she wants and likes. Through her ingenuity in select-ing and arranging her classes she is away from her two children on-ly three hours, from 1 to 4, each afternoon. During this time an el-derly woman fulfills her daily ba-bysitting duties. One of her chief delights is her children. The youngest, Nancy Baseman, is now four months old. Being a typical mother Mrs. Base-man confided, "My baby is an an-gel. Really, she's wonderful." If Nancy could talk, she would probably say that despite her mother's abilities her father has the upper hand in their family. You see. Daddy is a senior 715 1st Ave. South Moorhead, Minn. Marlys Carlander, contralto, will present her senior voice reci-tal Sunday at 3 p.m. in the college chapel. She has been a member of Concert Choir for four years and is the pupil of Mrs. Agnes Kise. Her program will consist of four groups. Lasciatemi Morire by Monteverde, La fortuna by Scar-latti, and O del mio dolce ardor and Che Faro Senza Euridice by Gluck comprise the first two groups. In the third group will be Der Skreg En Fugl by Sinding, Grondahl's Mot Kveld and Svarta rosor by Sebelius. Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal by Quitter, The Pasture by Nagissfci and Ras-bach's Mountains complete the program. Rachel Reinertsen will accom-pany Marlys at the piano. captain is Marvin Holt.
