Larson received his bachelor's degree from Concordia College and earned his master's of music educa-tion from the University of Wiscon-sin, Stevens Point. Prior to joining the Concordia music {acuity in 1981, Larson was chairman of the music department and director of choral studies at West High School, Wausau, Wis. In addition to conduc-ting the Chapel Choir, Larson leads the Freshman Choir and Pro Musica (women's chorus) and teaches choral conducting and voice at Con-cordia. Gibson performs vocal recital, conducts class Dr. George Gibson, professor of voice and director of opera theatre at Wichita (Kan.) State University, will present a guest voice recital tonight in.Recital Hall of Hvldsten Hall of Music beginning at 8:15 p.m. Gibson will perform works by Beethoven, Handel, Schumann, Brahms, Bizet, Duparc, Saint-Saens, Loewe and a group of spirituals by various composers. Dr. David Worth, assistant professor of music at Con-cordia College will be the pianist. Gibson will also conduct a vocal master class on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, in the Hvidsten Recital Hall. Both events are free and open to the public. A Texas native, Gibson attended Texas Lutheran College in Seguin, and received his bachelor's of music degree from the University of Miami, he was a Fulbright Scholar in Munich, West Germany, before retur-ning to the University of Texas, Austin, to complete his master's of music degree. Gibson received his doctorate in musical arts from the University of Southern California," Los Angeles. Prior to his position at Witchita State University, Gibson taught at Northwestern State University of Louisiana, Natchltoches, and the University of Texas, Austin. His background includes provate voice teaching and opera coaching in West Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In addition, Gibson has performed with numerous opera companies, including Miami, Los Angeles, Houston and Sheveport, La. Spring Concert to feature classics A program of light classical and popular music will set the mood for the Spring Pops Concert by the Con-cordia College Orchestra to take place Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Auditorium. "Performing with the orchestra, con-ducted by Dr. J. Robert Hanson, will be Jeffrey Holston, freshman, and June Rauschnabel' and Jonathon Retztaff-both of Concordia's music department —who will sing a com-bination of duets and solos The concert is free and open to the public. Prairie TV presents KCCM simulcasts Channel 13, Prairie Public Televi-sion, will present two simulcasts in March. KCCM 91.1FM, Minnesota Public Radio in Moorhedd, and KFME, The first, on Wednesday, March 21, at 7 p.m. will be a Gilbert and Sullivan simulcast of The Yoeman of the Guard starring Joel Gray. This performance will be the first of eleven Gilbert and Sullivan simulcasts to be presented over a three-year period. - The second, on Wednesday, March 28, at 7 p.m. will be a Metropolitan Opera simulcast of Berlioz's The Tro-~ jans, a performance featuring Jessye Norman, Tatiana Troyanos and Placidy Domingo.
