Snow Forgive me if you don't agree But something's really bugging me; I do not like to just complain But this weather is a lousy pain. It's winter and it's cold, I know. But I like winter with some snow. You know, a few feet would be nice But no! We're stuck with grungy ice. This present state just lasts and lasts- Just ice and dirt and arctic blasts. So here I am in this deep freeze Unable to even use my skis, I only shiver, sniff, and cough And that is why I'm so ticked off. It must be noted that this rhyme Was written at a point in time just previous to our present snow. With that acknowledged, I now go, Not completely satisfied- But, for the moment, pacified. LETTERS from page 3 The Bible is a good ethical ex-ample for us, whether Christian or not, says that if we judge not, we will not be judged. How unfor-tunate that we cannot remove the log from within our own eyes before we try to "help" someone else with a speck in their's. If people could only be more open to the delight which can be experienced by realizing peoples' individuality and the differences among humans, everyone would have more peace of mind, less paranoia, and a better self-image. Judgmentalism is ruinous, and unfortunatily, it is contagious. It can never be completely wiped out because it seems to be synonymous with human nature. If detected early, however, it can be treated and controlled. I defy anyone who may be in-fected with a judgmental IT'S NOT JUST A JOB-ITS AN OPPORTUNITY \ APPLY NOW FOR A POSITION ASA RESIDENCE HALL STAFF MEMBER FOR 1983-84. To me this seems to be a matter of life and death. Jodi M. Zabel To the Editor: There is a fallay at Concordia. It is the mistaken belief that Concor-dia is primarily concerned with giving a quality education. If one objectively views the college, one sees that, through administrative decisions, it perpetuates a non-academic set of values categoriz-ing Concordia principally as a money-making institution. Colleges necessarily need to be concerned with their financial stability but when this concern overrides and redirects academic values, the college becomes hypocritical; it lies to itself, to its supporters and chiefly to the students. At Concordia the administra-tion desires to maintain an image based upon conservative, Chris-tian, middle-class values. This is not a morality-based but rather an economically-based decision. The problem is that the administration restricts academic freedom due to these values. Students institutions are restricted and redirected through Bureaucratic decisions into line with the administration's LETTERS to page. 12 Lit*>i>V Newsletters? Notices? theWJZofthe printing biz!
