College Orchestra Fossum In Graduate Three Groups To Be Included In Event Sponsored By Phi lota Chapter Of Mu Phi Epsilon Accompanied by the Concordin col-lege orchestra. Miss Esther Fossum, pupil of Miss Clara Duen, will be pre-sented in a graduate piano recital Sat-urday at 8 p. m. in the college audito-rium. The recital will be sponsored by Phi Iota chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, na-tional honor music sorority, of which Miss Fossum has been a member two years. As her first selection Miss Fossum will play "Chaconnc" by Bach-Busoni, followed by "Prelude and Sarabande'1 by Debussy. The orchestra, composed of 24 mem-bers under the direction of Prof. Paul J. Christiansen, director of the School of Music, will furnish the accompani-ment for Miss Fossum when she plays the "Concerto in E Flat Major11 by Liszt, the concluding number on the program. Ushers will be Misses Thelma Hefty, Beatrice Utne and Martha Amdal, also members of the Mu Phi Epsilon soro-rity. Miss Fossum is music representative , on the Student forum, a member of the Alpha Zeta Phi literary society, Alpha society and is the treasurer of the seni-or class. She has also been a member of the Music club, German club, Sock and Buskin dramatic club and^ second choir. Accompany Recital Saturday To Present Recital ESTHER FOSSUM 'Symbolism,' LDR Topic, Continued Wednesday Speaking on "Symbols and Types of Crosses" and "The Cross, What It Means to Me" Misses Dorothy Anderson and Ruth Rosvold continued the theme "Symbolism" at the meeting of the Lutheran Daughters of the Reformation last evening. Mondamins Will Entertain New Members; Pledges To Present Programs Saturday Mondamins will entertain 11 new members at their smoker today at 6:30 p.m. "Baby Brevities" and musical themes will be featured when new pledges present programs at joint lit-erary society meetings Saturday. Pledges of Mondamin literary society will be entertained at a "smoker" at the Comstock hotel, Moorhead, at 6:30 p. m. today. Harris Lien and Martin Eidbo will play a trumpet duet and Erling Lian will sing. There will be talks by present members and alumni and a re-sponse by one of the pledges. Men who are being admitted to the society are Justin Dyrud, Lloyd Sunde, Donald Dahl, Gerhardt Landgrebe, Er-ling Aarthun, Guilford Fossum, Alden Sctness, Parnell Reitan, Harold Dahl, Theodore Steinke and John Stensland. • • • Alpha Kappa Chi pledges will present "Baby Brevities" at a joint meeting of the Mondamin and AKX societies. The skit is under the direction of Misses Lois Ristvedt, Marcelle Reitan, Adclla Lindquist and Selma Eide. Miss Har-riet Krogstad is general arrangements chairman and Misses Rose Hahn, Doro-thy Waag and Esther Hanson are in charge of the musical numbers. Misses Eileen Lindgren and lone Wallestad will edit the Havagrin. The other pledges assisting on the program are Misses Elaine Berg, Evelyn Reitan, Eleanore Ingebretson, Margery Evan-son, Jeanette Johnson and Hilda Bestul. • • * Lambda Delta Sigma pledges will give the program at the joint meeting of the AES-LDS societies. New members admitted into LDS are Misses Helen Brolen, Neola Moen, Lola Rygg. Joy Blomquist, Mercedes Mickelson, June Rykken, Vivian Aas, Grace Berg, Jean Pitsenbarger, Dolores Anderson, Luverne Thompson, Helen Rohlffs, LaVaughn Skatrud, Janette Rustad, Ruth Bakke, Wanda Gilbertson, Elizabeth Dahlen and Phyllis Erickson. The program will include a playlet by all the freshman girls and a musical selection by all band members. A tap dance number will be given by Misses Joy Blomquist, Helen Broten and Do-lores Anderson. Readings will be given by Misses June Rykken and Helen Rohlffs. A trio composed of Misses Janette Rustad, Neola Moen and Lu-verne Thompson will sing. The Sig-mite will be edited by all the pledges. Fourth Cobber Classic The fourth issue of the Cobber Cliissic, published by the Alpha Zeta Phi and Athenian literary .societies, will be released Saturday. This last issue, .sponsored by the In-lersociety council, will contain 14 pages of poems, short stories, essays, features, cartoons and illustrations. Co-editors are Miss Hazel Daniels n and Freeman Holmer. Misses Ruth Foss and Thelma Hefty are the artists and Miss Cora Walcn is the typist. Personals . . . Prof. Peter Anderson will speak at a Father and Son banquet sponsored by the Lutheran brotherhood at Lake Park tonight. • • * Otto Gilbertson was called to his home this week by the death of his sister. D. • • m Misses Arvilla Nelson and Marian Rolland of Fergus Falls were weekend guests of Miss Clarice Paulson. • * • At a meeting of the sophomore class Tuesday, plans were discussed for a picnic this spring. A general arrange-ments committee includes Floyd Mis-ner, chairman, Ernest Carlson and Miss Leanor Fraase. • « * The Misses Eva Halvorson and Myrtle Kruger of Oakes, N. D., visited last weekend with Misses Eileen Lindgren and Lily Gyldenvand. • * • Prof. Peter Anderson was a judge at the county declamation contest at Kindred, N. D., Tuesday. Senior Members To Present Plav At OTD Meeting Friday "Figuratively Speaking," a play, will bo given by the senior members of Omicron Tau Delta when the club holds its dinner meeting Friday at 6 p. m. Included in the cast arc Misses Grace Wick, Melinor Myhra, Hildcgarde Altcnbcmd, Stella Myrom, Margaret Holtcr, Lucille Dahlen, Elvira Strand and Minerva Jenson. Misses Leanor Fraase, Margaret Hcs-by, Katherine Turnquist and Hermoine Hatjen will serve the dinner. Lutnes, Danielson To Read At Sock, Buskin Monday Readings by Misses Mirth Lutnes and Hazel Danielson and an instrumental solo by Sherman Sundet will be on the program when the Sock and Buskin dramatic society meets Monday at 6:30 p. m. Miss Dorothy Anderson will review a chapter from the book "Modern Thea-trical Production." Five Students In Dramatics To Be Presented By Mrs. Ostby Friday In College Auditorium 6o Coeds To Attend Dorcas Party Friday Approximately 60 Concordin women plan to attend the Dorcas parly in the parlors of Pontoppi-diin Lutheran church, Far^o, Fri-day at 8 p. m. The Dorcas mission society of the church is sponsoring the event to which all college women arc invited whether members of (he Lutheran Daughters of the Reformation or not. Miss June Rykken will give "The Vision Beautiful" by Longfellow, and Miss Lucille Knutson will read "The Nightingale and the Rose" by Oscar Wilde. "Courting" will be read by Miss Mirth Lutnes and "On the Way Home,'1 by Miss Elizabeth Dnhlen. A cutting from the one-act play, "Confession" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to bo read by Miss Helen Rohlffs will conclude the program. OSCAR H. KJORUE CO. Concordia AAUW Members Entertain Moorhead Group Concordia faculty members of the American Association of University Women were hostesses to the Moorhead branch Tuesday.
