Description
Summary:A race of class Senate hopefuls were asked to tell about themselves and why they want to be a part of Concordia's Student Senate. Design by Darrell Ehrlick,Michael Raum and Jennifer Gayvert; photos by Kirsten Winters Previous Involvement: No informa-tion available at press time. Issue of Concern: No information available at press time Previous Involvement: Student Senate; Freshman Choir Issue of Concern: Responsibility. Senators need to not only be responsible to their con-stituents, but also need to have a sense of responsibility when allocating funds to the organizations of Concordia. Andrew Sa Previous Involvement: Resident Assistant; Library Worker Issue of Concern: Student senators need flexibility. Proposal from the Student Association, administrations and student organizations will be placed in the senate's hands. I hope to consider propos-als with a flexible and honest heart. Previous Involvement: No informa-tion available at this time. Issue of Concern: No available information at this time. No photo available at press time Betsy PeterscH Previous Involvement: Student Senate; Student Personnel Selection Committee; Concordian; KORD Issue of Concern: Clearer communication between Senate and student organizations about the whole Senate process, because there are so many misconcep-tions about senate's role and what it really does. ^a Erin Pearce Previous Involvement: On four dif-ferent homecoming subcommittees; Student Personnel Committee;tennis Issue of Concern: Communication between senators and their class is very important to me. It is the job of senate to allocate student activity fees, so that students can see how their money is being spent. S#* Previous Involvement: Concordian; Homecoming bonfire committee; admissions office Issue of Concern: Board plan. If a student decides against going to dining service for a meal, that money should transfer to his or her flex account to use as he or she wishes. Nathanael CHrl Previous Involvement: Cheerteam; Cobber Band; Resident Assistant; Gaming Club; Afterwork Issue of Concern: I would like to facilitate better com-munications between organizations at Concordia. Neil Colby Previous Involvement: Sources of Service; Outreach; Safewalk; Dining Service Issue of Concern: Parking. Many times there are not enough parking spots for everyone on campus. We need unified permits for students for parking in lots, when theirs is full. Sami Islam Previous Involvement: International Student Association; Dining Service; Math Department Issue of Concern: As a senator, I would efficiently allocate the budget among different organizations which will enable them to operate smoothly and effi-ciently. Amimul Hasan Previous Involvement: Student Leadership Council; International Student Organization; Afterwork Issue of Concern: My single most important issue is to be responsible for proper allocation of money to campus organizations through which the whole student body would be benefitted. Sarah AI-BassJH Previous Involvement: No informa-tion available at this time. Issue of Concern: No information available at this time. Previous Involvement: Student Senate; Resident Assistant Issue of Concern: Student Apathy. It's a drain on involvement and human resources. It's the one biggest obstacle that prevents Student Association from being fully able to serve the students. Tricia Henneri Previous Involvement: No informa-tion available at this time. Issue of Concern: No information available at this time Imran Hafeezl Previous Involvement: Health Professions Interest Club Issue of Concern: Considering the duties of the senate, I don't think it would be fair to say I have a single most important issue. Instead, I would like to see a Senate elected that will allocate money appropriately in a way that is beneficial. Kara Norland Previous Involvement: No informa-tion available at this time.
