Lydia's bed is softer than Florence's bed. —The Sixth Class. SEVENTH GRADE NOTES My Christinas Vacation Jan. G—December 25 Miss Maurer cleaned the dining room and put the chairs into two rows. She put the cards with our names on the tables. We changed our dresses and then went into the dining room and looked for our cards, I found mine. We took our seats. Mr. Driggs prayed. We had chicken, cranberry sauce, celery, fruit salad, buns and pie. We coasted down the toboggan slide and had lots of fun. We had ham, cranberries, jam, celery, cookies and ice-cream for supper. Wo played cards in the evening and had lots of fun. On New Year's Day wc coasted clown the hill. I learned to slide on the skis and Elmer Brundell taught me. -Ada Michelson. —I— Jan. 8—Yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock I got a basketball. It was broken. Some of the boys wanted to play in the evening. I brought it into the shoe shop. I took the old waxed thread from it. I got some new thread and sewed the basketball by hand. After study-hour the first team went to the gymnasium. They played basketball with fhe second team. The score was 30 to 6 in favor of the first team. —Thorvald Norclgaarct. -Hh- Jan. 6—Last December 20 my sister, Christine invited Helen Skyberg to spend her vacation with us. My father, mother, Helen and I went to Rohrvillc, After a while we came back home with my brother, f have a nice new home. Last Saturday my father went to Devils Lake and bought a new stove. On the night of December 25 my brother, sister, Helen and Christine went to a party. They had a good time. They came home at about 2 o'clock. During the vacation I coasted clown the hill. I had a good time. Last Friday my father, Helen and I came back to the school by car. I am a little homesick. —Philip Frelich. —i— During the Christmas vacation I sometimes worked in the print shop. Sometimes f read a book in the reading-room. On the night of December 24 we went to fhe chapel and saw many boxes. When Santa Claus came in, he clapped his hands. Mr. Osburn, Mr. Burns and others gave the boxes to us. I got three boxes. We were very happy. One day we went fifteen miles to the county in the bus. We walked in the field and Mr. Burns killed a white rabbit. Royal Marsh, Norbert Brockamp and Elmer Brundell walked five miles. Royal got two rabbits and Elmer Brundell got one. In January some of us went sleighing and skiing and had a good time. Last Friday night some boys and girls played cards in the girls' play-room. Wc had lots of fun. Last Saturday morning we did not work in the print shop. In the afternoon we went to the State Theatre. It was about "The Gun Outlaw," and was good. —Robert Phinney. On December 20 some of us left for Fargo. The train was late. During tlie vacation I helped my mother wash the dishes, sweep the floor and make the beds. My father bought a Christmas tree. My mother and I decorated it with tinsels, bells and electric lights. On Christmas morning I got many gifts from my father and mother and relatives. I got a wrist watch, a., box of stationery, a purse, some gloves, some stockings and two boxes of handkerchiefs and was pleased with tli cm, On New Year's Day my friend named Sally Burger ancl I went to watch many people skating on the ice. We feci some peanuts to fhe squirrels. They ran around the park. Last Saturday afternoon I was walking on the sidewalk, I saw Evelyn Jacobs and Evelyn Nelson and took them home. We played cards and had a good time. Last Sunday morning I went to Fergus Falls, Minnesota with my parents to visit my aunt and uncle. We stayed with them until night. Wc had a nice visit. Yesterday morning at 6:30 o'clock I left Fargo feir Devils Lake and stopped at Grand Forks, f was in Grand Forks for the first firm-. We arrived at 11:30 o'clock. I had a. good time during the Christmas vacation. —Marion White.
