McBride, a resident of Cavalier county since 1903, died October 31, 1954. Born at Albert Lea, Minn., January 30, 1878, she married Mr. McBride February 20, 1905. She taught school for several years before her marriage. They were the parents of five children. A daughter, Mrs. Edgar McGauvran, lives near Osnabrock. Mrs. Anthony J. Slama, life-long resident of the Milton community, died November 13, 1954. She was born February 21, 1901, in Osford township and married Anthony Slama November 20, 1919. They had three children. A. daughter-, De Lorris, resides in Milton. Norman Olson, who was born in 1879 at Calumet, Mich., and came to the West Mountain vicinity in 1900 to farm, died in 1954. He was married in 1911 to Gyda Skrogstad. Seven children were born to them. Mrs. Olson, who was born in 1892, also at Calumet, died in I960. Their sons, Marvin and Harold. live at Milton. 1955 — Dory's Colts Lose Manager Haldor Asgrimson, who was popularly and widely known as "Dory," died December 24, 1955. He was one of Milton's earliest merchants and for more than 60 years was a sports enthusiast. He was born July 9, 1873, in Iceland and came to the United States with his parents in 1883. They settled first at Pembina and. after a year moved to Mountain, where he- spent his youth and attended school. One or his boyhood friends there was Vilhalmer Steffanson, the noted Arctic explorer, now of New York city. In 1889, when 16 years, old, he went to Milton to start his business career as an employee in the Johnson-Wro- olie store. Later he worked in other Mi.ton stores, including the L. R. Kelley, Ole Menes, A. A. Halliday and Leaf and Brotten stores, before he joined Ed Larson in the mercantile business. When Mr. Hal.vday returned to Milton "Dory" again went to. work for him. He also worked in the Farmers Co-Op store where Mr. Westberg was manager, and later succeeded him as manager. The store was located in what is now the community hall. Mr. Asgrimson managed the store until it was bought by P. A. Anderson. In 1932 he and his son Norme estab.ished a store in the building which now is Cliff's cafe, later moving it to its present location next door to the Star Theatre, where it is operated by Norme. He was a dedicated worker for community betterment, for the Lutheran church, the school board and fire department, of which he was a member. A lover of outdoor sports, he was an ardent hunter in his younger years. Because of his affection for baseball, he spent much time and effort for several years as manager of Dory's Coifs, a widely known Milton baseball team. He and Florence Eastman were married, in 1896 at the Lutheran church in Vang. She was born in Iceland September 26, 1875, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Eastman and came with them to Akra in 1881. She came to Milton in 1893 and became an active member of the Milton Lutheran church and its Ladies Aid. Three of their four children are living. They are Ruby, who is Mrs. Leo Wild of Milton, Norme also of Milton and Alfred, at Langdon. They were a close-knit family and until Mrs. Asgrimson's death March 29, 1956, only three months after her husband died, the family had always been together, with rare exceptions for every Christmas and Easter and most other holidays. One exception was in 1935 when their son Alfred was employed in Utah and he and his wife couldn't be with the other's.
