Summary:Ole H. Lykken died at the age of 91 years after a brief illness with pneumonia. Born at Teleinarken, Norway, in 1843, he came to this community in 1882. He was the father of nine children. Surviving are Mrs. Oas of Cabri, Sask., and Lewis Lykken of Loma. Jacob J. Johnson, one of Cavalier county's earliest pioneers, died this year. He was born in Iceland in 1848, came to Cavalier county in 1889, to East, Alma township where he farmed. Harold and Robert Sunderland went to Fargo to get tanks for the filling station which was being erected on their property in April. A, W. Laing passed away at a Grand Forks hospital. His son, Bruce, resides in Ohio. Mrs. Jennie Thompson passed away during the year. She was born Jane Kofi'ski in 1873 in Ontario. Mrs. Joe Hailgrimson is a daughter. George Lang passed away at a Langdon hospital. He was born in Ontario and came to this community in 1882. 1935 — Early Settlers Pass Away S. S. Grimson, Milton pioneer, died September 17. He was born in Iceland, December 7, 1867, and came to North Dakota in 1882. He married Annie Eastman in 1899 and homesteaded north of Milton in East Alma township. Mrs. Grimson is residing with her daughter Margaret, Mrs. John Fricke, in San Francisco. Other children are Dr. John Grimson of California, Dr. Leonard Grimson and Pearl (Mrs. Harry Lindstrom) living in Illinois, Franklin of Milton, Steingrimur living in Oregon. Six children are deceased. William Watson, an early pioneer of Milton, died at his home in Grand Forks. He was born in Cartwright, Out., in 1881 and came to Milton where he resided until 1929. Mrs. Alex Lang of Milton is a sister and J. J. Watson, a brother. Mrs. Vern Pendergast (Yvonne Anderson) died at Northwood. Born at Pilot February 14, 1916, she attended the Milt-on schools and was married to Vern Pendergast July 22, 1933. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Anderson of Millon. Melburn Cose died at the age of 56. He was born at Goldstone, Ont. He married Ethel M. Law ton August 10, 1904, and lived in Milton from 1919 until the time of his death. Mrs. Henry Rustan and Mrs. William Swanson are daughters and Harold Close is a son. All are of Milton. Steine G. Steinolfson died unexpectedly at Lidgerwood August 15. He was born January 15, 1889, at Mountain and married Margaret McKay of Milton February 25, 1911. Ho attended Mayvi le STC and the University of North Dakota and taught school for several years in Cavalier and Pembina counties. He came to Milton in 1915. In 1927 he became a United States Internal Revenue agent. Daughters of the deceased are Mrs. W. W. Wild and Mrs. L. P. Wild, both of Milton, and Mrs. Stewart Nelson of Nevada. Mrs. John McLarty died at her home. She was born at Rothsay, Scotland, July 22, 1875 and came to North Dakota in June 1888. On February 21, 1895, she married Mr. McLarty and farmed near Milton until 1921 when they moved to town. Children residing in the community are Mrs. Calmer Stabo, Mary, John, Lyle and Grant, all of Milton, and Angus who lives in Kansas.
