HISTORY OF TILLMAN SORENSON FAMILY In the Peter Sorenson History of the 1961 Jubilee book, five children were listed of which Tillman is the youngest, born at the homestead farm December 14, 1915. He acquired his 8th Grade education at the country schools and then finished high school at Tuttle in the spring of 1935. Since then he has lived on the original homestead farm. On September 27, 1941, Tillman was married to Carolyn Gellner, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Gellner, who had homesteaded four miles north of Arena. Both her paernts were German imigrants of Russia. Since her father came from Siberia and her mother from near Odesia in South Russina, it was in the United States they met and were married. Carolyn was one of the seven chidlren in the Gellner family and being born on the homestead farm, grew up and graduated from the 8th grade at their country school and then from Wing High School in 1940. It was in 1944 that Tillman and Carolyn's first child and only daughter, Barbara Carol, was born. By that time the country had modernized considerably to what it was when her parents were children. School districts had reorganized and country schools discontinued. So, for her it was school in town. Her first and second grades she attended at Wing, North Dakota, then transferred to Tuttle Public School and graduated from there in 1963. She enrolled at Concordia College that fall and graduated from there in the spring of 1967. That same year she married M. John Leno and has since then been living in Fargo. They have one daughter, Teresa Laree. Burl Lee, born in 1949, was the second child and only son ■— since girls are in the majority in the Sorenson family tree, it appears that it might be through him that the family name would remain alive. He also acquired his education at Tuttle, finishing high school in 1968, and enrolled at the University of North Dakota in the fall of 1968. Burl married Karen Schuler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert C. Schuler, December 27, 1970. While he is continuing school, they are 99 Seated: Caroline and Tillman Sorenson. Standing: Burl and Barbara.
