BRATLAND Faythe Brandmeyer Dodge John and Claudia Brandmeyer had three children: Faythe, Milo, and Ralph. All members of the John Brandmeyer family were born in Iowa, except Ralph who was born in Missouri. John's parents were born in Germany. John and Claudia moved to Sheldon area in 1914 and lived on the Flatt farm(NWW-4 Greene) three miles north of town and used a buggy or covered sled to go to school. In 1919 they lived in Sheldon until Faythe's graduation from high school and when she was ready to go to the N'DAC (NDSU now) they moved to Fargo where John became Superintendent of the Experiment Farm at the Agricultural College and his wife was also employed there. A few years later they were both officers at the ND State Penitentiary in Bismarck. John died in 1941 and Claudia in July, 1980 at age 104. After college Faythe married Walter Dodge (q.v.) who was also a 1919 graduate of Sheldon. Milo Brandmeyer lived all of his adult life in Los Angeles and was a salesman for Victor Adding Machine Company. Milo and his wife Norma Smith Brandmeyer had three children: Carolyn (Mrs. Bob Grandmain) of Palm Springs. Colorado, who have five children, Lynette,Janet, Michael, Annette, and Robby; Milo Jr. his wife and two daughters who live at Spokane, Washington; and Debbie who married Rudy Bukisch. Milo, Sr. passed away In 1974. Ralph Brandmeyer married Monica Crawford in Fargo, ND, and spent most of his life working for the Carnation Company. They have two children: Dolores (Mrs. Richard Edelbrock) of Anaheim, California, who has four children, Clark, Scott, Linda and Donna; and Brian who is an attorney in Downey company. Brian and Jan Smith Brandmeyer live at Palo Verdes Estates in California and have four children: Kent, Michael, Terese, and Kevin. Vingner Bratland family: Edith, Richard, Leo, Virginia, Gladys and Vingner; 1978. Vingner Bratland's grandfather Hans Bratland was the first of the family to come from Norway, settling in Owego on section 34. Note: Hans Bratland was Vingner's grandfather on his mother's side, as his father Stormo took the name of his wife-Bratland-while still in Norway, a very acceptable custom there. Andrew and Nick Bratland were brothers to Hannah Bratland and Christine Durler was a sister. Vingner Birting Bratland was the son of John and Hannah Bratland and was born in Mo-i-Rana (Basmoen), Norway on September 14, 1910. On August 3, 1914, his parents arrived in the United States and brought with them seven of their ten children: Hans, Josie, Ida 1903 (Mrs. Eddie Thompson, q.v.), Arne, Marie 1909, Vingner 1910, and Korre 1912, and settled on a farm in Sec. 32 Helendale twp. Richland county, ND. Two children, Jennie and Ole preceded the family to the U.S. and one daughter Anna Gulvik remained in Norway. Father John worked in a mine in Norway and came to U.S.A on information that times were good here. Vingner married Gladys Gustava Anderson in 1937 in the Kindred parsonage. Gladys was born in Barrie twp. Richland Co., to Albert and Hulda Anderson of Walcott, ND, who had emigrated from Motala, Sweden. Albert and Hulda had five children: Grace (Mrs. Gordon Engerholm) of Glenwood, Minnesota; Louis (who married Farnces Oslie) of Leonard, ND; Alice, a retired school teacher, is making her home on the farm with her brother Arnold, who has taken over the home farm. Vingner and Gladys began their married lite in Richland Co. on the Gilbert Nelson farm (Sec. 8 Sheyenne twp), lived there one year and moved to a farm in Sec. 19 Barrie twp, and farmed there two years. In March, 1941, they purchased their present farm (NWW-10 Shenford) 5W> miles southeast of Sheldon by the Sheyenne river. They retired from farming in 1975 but still reside there. The following children were born to Vingner and Gladys: Virginia Gwendalyn, April 11, 1938; Richard Keith, January 12, 1943; Edith Elizabeth, March 1, 1947; Leo Vingner, December 13, 1951, all Sheldon graduates, and Lois Mae born May 14, 1944, died June 24, 1945. 208 Virgina attended Business college in Fargo, ND, and married Wesley Myhre of Walcott, ND, on June 22, 1958. They have four children: Mark Wesley, December 3, 1960; Jon Justin, April 4,1962; both students at NDSU, Fargo; Jane Denise, May 2,1966 in South High School, Fargo; Paul Cameron, December 28, 1969 at Clara Barton school, Fargo. They live in Fargo where Wesley is an industrial engineer for U.S. Postal Service. Richard married Betty Jean Bunn of Sheldon on February 16, 1964 and they have two children: Carla Denise who is a New Year's baby of 1965 and Trent Richard, born March 5, 1966, during a severe snow storm, both are attending Sheldon school. Betty is a taller at Citizens State Bank in Enderlin and Richard is truck driver for the Coop Milk Haulers of Sheldon. Edith received her B.S. degree in Home Economics from NDSU, Fargo and taught four years at New Salem, ND, married Dennis Mosbrucker of Dickinson, ND, on April 14, 1973. They have one daughter Danielle Denise, born October 29, 1973. Dennis is a case work draftsman for T.M.I. Systems Design Corp. in Dickinson. Leo received B.S. degree in Pharmacy at NDSU, Fargo and married Deborah Black on May 31, 1974. They have two children, Jill Marie, June 12,1977 and Eric John, June 1, 1980. Deborah is a nurse at a clinic, and Leo is a pharmacist in Danville, Illinois where they live. Vingner is a charter member of Sheldon Lions Club, served as township supervisor and has been on the church council of First Lutheran Church in Enderlin where they are members. In 1978 he was inducted into the ND Horseshoe Pitchers Hall of Fame. He was responsible for building the twelve-court layout in Sheldon and in 1974 Sheldon was host to the State Tourney. In 1971 and 1976 Vingner and Gladys toured Norway and Sweden and saw birthplaces and church of her parents and Vingner's church where he had been baptized. Korre arrived in the U.S.A. with his family in 1914 and grew to adulthood in Helendale Township south of Leonard. During this time Korre spent two years in Civilian Conservation. Corp. In 1939 he married Henrietta Hillerson of Luverne, ND, who was a rural school teacher in the Helendale School District. For several years they owned and operated a ranch south of Leonard on Section six of Sheyenne Township, Richland County, ND, where Korre served on the school and township boards. The family were members of Zion Lutheran Church where Korre served on the Church Council. Five children were born to the couple: John Charles, Sylvia Lois, Korre Arvid, Karen Amy, Roger Jennings.
