H. E. "Ed" Davis, Cliff Sr.'s dad, proud of his Dodge. Clifford and Mary Friesz Davis Clifford Davis was born November 21, 1907, on a homestead nine miles south of Taylor; went to a one-room country school a half mile from home and went to high school in Taylor. Clifford's first job away from the farm was with Parker and Sons Meat Market in Dickinson. He was delivery boy and later helped make sausage. He was employed as a lineman for Bell Telephone, and a meat packing plant in Montana. Clifford married Mary Friesz from north of Richardton in 1929 at Waynesville, Missouri. She is the daughter of Peter and Ida Friesz, and was born May 14, 1908. They owned and operated a gas station in Richardton. The Davises returned to North Dakota in 1931 and farmed the homestead until 1961. During these years they moved several times. Clifford worked as a government trapper, on construction job of the Minot Air Force Basem and the Garrison Dam as a heavy equipment operator. He was a policeman in Minot and Dickinson. In 1961 Clifford was manager of the Gladstone Bar. The Davis family had moved to Gladstone in 1946, all their children attended the Gladstone schools. The family moved to Hamilton, Montana in 1963, and Cliff was a policeman in Darby, Montana. In Deerlodge, Montana, he was employed as a correctional officer at the Montana State Prison. They lived in Baker, Montana a few years and now reside in New England, North Dakota. The Davis' are the parents of seven children, 34 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. James married Gerry Wilier. (See story) Ida Mae married Peter Wolf of Minot and lives in Edmonton, Alberta, during the summer and LaMesa, California during the winter. They have two children. Delores married Jack Madl and resides in Zepherhills, Florida. They are in the dairy supply and equipment business and are the parents of six children. Glenn married Janet Remfrew, a nurse. They spent time in Edmonton, Alberta and Kodiak, Alaska. Now they live in Spruse Grove, Alberta and are the paretns of three children. Peggy, born south of Taylor, married Blain Meier. They have 11 children. Peggy is now married to Harv Mehlhoff and resides in Riverdale, North Dakota. Clifford, born at Taylor, married Marietta Kovash of Taylor, and they are the parents of four children. Cliff is in the insurance business, owning Cliff Davis and Associates. Patricia, born in Dickinson, married Ralph White of Edmonton, Alberta, and they are the parents of two children. They live in New England where her husband is a plumber. Jim and Geraldine Wilier Davis Jim, son of Clifford and Mary Friesz Davis, was born February 9, 1931, in Richardton and raised on a farm. He attended grade school at a country school and his first two years of high school at Taylor. Jim graduated from Gladstone High in 1949. After graduation he worked for the telephone company, then he entered the Army in 1951. While in the Army he was stationed in Korea. Upon discharge from the Army, he returned to work for the telephone company. On November 11, 1953, Jim married Geraldine Wilier, born January 23, 1932, the daughter of Mike and'Elizabeth Huth Wilier. He then worked out of Dickinson, Mandan, Underwood, and Riverdale until March of 1960. In 1969 he bought the Queen City Club. After selling the Queen City Club, Jim was a car salesman for Sax Motor Co. and Thomas Motors. He was also manager of the KC Club and sold insurance. He is now enjoying his rural mail route #2. Gerri was born in Gladstone and lived on a farm during which she attended her first six years of grade school in Gladstone. She then moved to Dickinson where she finished school and graduated from Dickinson High. She worked at Liberty National Bank for three and a half years, then she helped at the Queen City Club. After that she worked about four years at the First National Bank and at Western Livestock in the office on sale days. Gerri is presently babysitting her granddaughter, Tennile. Jim and Gerri have two grandchildren, Brandon Kreig who is 19 months old, and Tenille Franchuck who is 13 months old. They have seven children. Michele is living in Minneapolis and working at a country club. Ken is employed as an installment loan officer at the Liberty National Bank. He graduated from Dickinson State in 1977, where he was active in football, basketball, and track. He was also Athlete of the Year at DHS in 1973. He will be married in May of 1982. Cindy is married to Mick Krieg and is living in Minneapolis. They have a son Brandon. Cindy is employed as a secretary. Cindy and her twin sister, Sandy, had a double wedding on August 18, 1978. Sandy is married to Arlen Franchuk, and they have one daughter, Tenille. Sandy is a kindergarten teacher during the school year and during the summer manages the swimming pool. Tom is working for Tooz Construction. Susan is employed at Metropolitan Federal Savings & Loan as an installment loan processor. Nancy is in her second year of college at DSC. She is active in cross country, gymnastics, and track. She was two-time state vaulter and three-times Elks Quarterback Athlete-of-the-Month. She has also been Hagen Jr. High Athlete-of-the-Year and named Prep All- American-Girl-Athlete in 1979 by the National Athletics Coaches Assocation. Back: Tom, Jim, Gerry, Sandy, Cindy, and Ken.
