Summary:Back left to right - Tim, Don Fischer, Peg, Evelyn, Harvey and Mark. Front - Linda, Vicki Timmerman After Harvey and Evelyn's marriage, they moved to a farm south of Rolla where they still reside today. At the time of their marriage the local paper listed the following prices: choice durum at $2.09; plain durum at $1.78; oats at $.68 and barley $.84 to $1.29. They are the parents of three daughters and two sons and grandparents of four. Their children are: Vicki, who is married to Barry Johnston (see history); Tim, who lives in Walhalla and works for Montana Dakota Utilities; Linda, who is married to Wayne Sha and has two daughters, Amy and Lind- sey; Mark, who is employed with an oil company at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska; Peggy, the youngest child of Harvey and Evelyn, is married to Dan Fischer and resides in Langdon. All five children attended and graduated from Rolla High School. John and Karoline Timmerman JOHN AND KAROLINE TIMMERMAN John Timmerman was born on June 9, 1884 to Mr. and Mrs. Clause Timmerman at Parkers Prairie, Minnesota. He came to North Dakota in 1896 and stayed for awhile with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilkie. On November 11, 1914 John married Karoline Nolting, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nolting. Karoline was born February 3,1888 at Leavenworth, Kansas where she grew up. In 1901 she moved with her parents to Oxford Township. To the union of John and Karoline, eight children were born. One twin son died in infancy and one daughter, Lorna, died at the age of 12 years. The living children are: Edwin, Walter, Ellamae (Schmidt), Harvey, Wesley (see histories) and Mary Ann. Karoline died in 1935 from cancer when Mary Ann was born. The baby was then raised by her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. August Nolting. John Timmerman died in 1973. The youngest son, Wesley, lives on the family homestead which he bought from his father. MARVIN AND LISA TIMMERMAN Marvin, son of Wesley and Freda Timmerman, was born in Rolla in 1954. He attended the Oxford Township School until the fifth grade and, with the closing of that school, he transferred to the Rolla School system and graduated in 1973. He was a student at the State School of Science in Wahpeton where he trained as a machine-toolist. In 1976 he started farming in partnership with his brother Gene on the family farm. Marvin married Lisa Hoffman on April 27,1984 during the worst snowstorm in many years, and to be married on her parents' 25th wedding anniversary, they, along with two of the attendants, plowed through 15 inches of snow to Rolla where they met their pastor and were married. When the storm cleared, they repeated their vows on April 29th with the complete wedding party and a church filled with relatives and friends. Lisa is the daughter of Lawrence and Shirley Hoffman. She attended the Rolla Public School and graduated in 1981. She was a student at the Bismarck Junior College and graduated with an agribusiness degree. She is currently employed by the First State Bank of Rolla. The Timmermans belong to the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Lisa is a member of the Oxford Homemakers and enjoys crafts and gardening. Marvin's hobbies include trap shooting, hunting and snowmobiling. Born on June 2, 1987 was Karyn Alis, who soon filled their lives with joy and laughter. WALTER AND BEATRICE TIMMERMAN Walter Timmerman, the second oldest son of John and Karoline Timmerman, was a twin whose brother died in infancy. Walter worked on a farm until he went into the service during World War II. He served for five years, receiving $30 per month as a private. He was discharged in 1945 as a staff 451 sergeant.
