Summary:holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from North Dakota State University in Mathematics and German and a Master of Science Degree from Purdue University in Math Education. Cheryl married Terry L. Pankow, Lidgerwood, on June 10,1972. She is in her twelfth year of teaching and is presently employed at the University of Minnesota, Crookston teaching business math. Terry is employed at the Northwestern Mental Health Center, Inc. in Crookston, MN as a psychiatric social worker. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Valparaiso University and a Master of Arts Degree in social work from Indiana University. They have one son, Brent, age seven, they are active members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Crookston and various other community organizations. Barbara was born March 24,1952, at Breckenridge, MN. She presently lives in Grafton,ND. In 1962 Lester and Darline purchased the farm S.E. 1/4- 11-132-50 from Art O. Peterson, Paynesville, MN. They continued to farm until the spring of 1983 at which time they sold the farmstead to Gary and Lori Hektner. Following a farm auction on March 19, 1983, they moved to Wahpeton, ND, where they presently reside at 921 Second Street South. Donald Ward History Don Ward Donald William Ward was born August 1,1915 to Elmer D. and Anna C. DeVreis at Mooreton. He grew up on the family farm and attended schools there also. On April 7,1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army at Ft. Snell- ing. He was stationed in the U.S. and was an Army Equipment Operator. He was also stationed at Newfoundland for one year. While in the army, he received a European- African-Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with one Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal. He was discharged in 1945. He farmed with his brother, Lester Ward, and has made his home with them until retirement. Don is now living in Mooreton Senior Retirement. He is an active member of Mooreton Commercial Club, American Legion and Wahpeton Eagles. Lester Ward Family Lester Ward was born 1910 in Great Falls, Montana, to Elmer D. and Anna (DeVries) Ward. He came to Richland County with his parents in 1913 to Mooreton Township. He attended Mooreton grade school, known as Traeger School, on Highway 13. He worked for various farmers, namely: Adams Farm, Kubes', Walter Crawford, Herman Lester and Leona (Gast) Ward Deike and numerous others. He also trucked cattle, did custom corn shelling from 1939 to 1975. Lester also owned and drove school bus for six years in Mooreton. Leona worked various places doing housework. They moved to Mooreton in 1944 when Lester purchased the beer parlor and recreation from a Mrs. Carrie Sport. It has since been operated by various tenants including Lester and sons, Wilferd and Willerd. Changes have been made through the years including the addition of a cafe and a teen center. The name has been changed to Ward's Bar and Cafe. Lester has, in addition to the bar and cafe, farmed until his retirement. She married Robert Klosterman of Mooreton. They have five children: Victor, Dennis, Bruce, Neil and Cara. Victor is married to Renea Ellingson and Dennis will be married July 14, 1984 to Janet Brosowske. Wayne Elmer was born August 14,1938. He is married to Janice Althoff of Mantador.
