Summary:Barney-married Kristy Vande Hoven and they have twin boys, Charles and Victor and a daughter Melissa. Barney is bookkeeper at Steinman Mfg. at Carrington, ND. Andy-is in college at NDSU at Fargo, N.D. Billy-is in college at North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. Charley passed away July 17, 1969. Serena married Elmer Buckhaus and they live on his farm near Hankinson, ND. Jerome married Joan Pellman on June 17, 1941 at Mantador, ND. They moved to the Heitkamp home place NE 1/ 4 of Sec. 16. They have 12 children; Kathleen, Margaret, Nancy (deceased), Linda, Juanita, Grace, Donald, Larry, Mary, Jerry, Richard and Rosalie. Bernard married Margaret Lenz, daughter of Leo and Anna (Lugert) Lenz of Barney Township. They moved on the farm where Bernard's parents lived, (the Ferd Becker farm) and Bernard's parents moved to the former Con- zemius farm NE 1/4 of Sec. 30; presently occupied by another son, James. They have 3 sons. Joseph lives in Cleveland, Utah and is Director of Engineering for building power plants. Robert lives in Juneau, Alaska and is flight director at the airport there. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force for over 10 years and then as a traffic controller in Anchorage, Alaska. Leo is married to Debbie Lyons of Lidgerwood and they live at Mapleton, ND. He is a truck driver for highway construction. They have a son, Jeremy. Leo served in the U.S. Army three years, with most of the time served in Germany. Bernard and Margaret mewed to a farm near Lidgerwood when their farm was bought by Mark Klosterman. Last month Bernard's bought James Heitkamp's house in Wyndmere and have retired there. Viola married Darwin Tompt, November 15, 1949. They moved to Colfax, ND, where Darwin managed the Colfax Grain Co. Now they live at Willmar, MN, where Darwin has the Seeco Co. They have seven children. Patricia-married Phillip Wright and they have a daughter Amy. They live in Wilmar and Patty works at Seeco Co. and Phil is a surveyor. James-married Elaine Rauche and they have a daughter Emily. James works at his Dad's plant in Willmar. Teresa-married Tim Smith and they live in Sioux Falls, SD. She works at a nursing home and Tim is a salesman. Jane-married Jeff Jensen and they live in Sioux Falls, SD. Jeff is a salesman. John—married Becky Wilkins, they have a son James and a daughter Melissa. John works at Seeco and Becky is an auditor for First American Bank of Willmar. Mary—lives at home and works at Seeco. David-is going to college at St. Cloud, MN James (Jim) was born July 2.1925. He served two years in the U.S. Army. He spent some time in Greenland and the Panama. He married Peggy Brandt, daughter of Fred and Viola Brandt, Jan. 10, 1953. They lived on the home place NE 1/4 30 and his parents moved to Wahpeton. They had 8 children: Jacqueline, Francis, Jesse, Stacy, Jason. Kelley, Janelle and Jennifer, with their mother, were killed in an automobile accident in 1967. They are buried in the Catholic cemetery at Mantador. Dorothy married Lloyd Pederson at St. John's Church, Wahpeton, ND on July 11. 1959. They have 4 children. Roger works at 3M at Wahpeton. Janet works as a secretary in Aberdeen. SD. Joyce is going to college at NDSU in Fargo, ND. and Brian is attending ND State School of Science at Wahpeton. Lloyd is retired from the Ottertail Power Co. Frank and Lena Heitkamp spent their last years at St. Francis Home in Breckenridge. MN. Frank died Aug. 26. 1976 and Lena died June 22, 1981. It is interesting to note that Lena's parents came to Richland County: Danton Township in 1881. Their farm is eligible for a centenary plaque as it has been in the same family for 100 years. A grandson. James Heitkamp. owns and farms it now. The Herman Heitkamp Family Helen, Adolph, Alvina, Veronica, Lawrence, Velaria, Edmund Herman Heitkamp Family Herman Heitkamp was born July 26, 1882 at Dyersvill, Iowa. He was the son of Barney and Elizabeth Hietkamp. They moved to Adrian, MN when he was a small child, they farmed near Adrian until 1905. Herman and Joseph came with their father to the Barney area. He had six brothers - Joseph, Henry, John, Frank, William and Bernard. 4 sisters - Rose (Mrs. Frank Weber), Katherine (Mrs. Math Breuer), Agnes (Mrs. William Honermann), Caroline (Mrs. Carl Pelzl) (all are deceased). On January 25. 1910. Herman married Katherine Krump at Mantador, N.D. She was the daughter of Peter and Helena Krump of Hankinson, N.D. She had or. sister, Margaret Mrs. M.J. Hafener), and four brothers, John M., Peter J., Henry and Adolph (all deceased). After their marriage, they lived on a farm 2-1/2 miles west of Mooreton, N.D. In 1918, they bought the farm home 1-1/ 2 miles south of Barney from John Fettes. They had 3 sons - Edmund, Lawrence and Adolph, five daughters - Leona, Alvina, Veronia, Velaria and Helen. The children all attended grade school 1 mile east of the home place. Later attending high school in Barney and graduating from Wahpeton High School and attended North Dakota State School of Science. Herman was a member of the Barney School Board for 22 years. He was active 185 Scanned with a Zeutschel Zeta book scanner at 300 dpi. Edited with Multi-Page TIFF Editor.
