JAN & DUANE DeKREY Jan (Pederson) originally from North wood, N.D., graduated high school from there in 1977. She attended the University of North Dakota and Mayville State College from 1977 to 1982, graduating from Mayville. She started teaching in Pettibone in 1982, and is employed there at present. Duane graduated from Pettibone in 1974. He attended North Dakota State University and graduated in 1978. He was commissioned a 2nd Lt., in the Army Reserve and served parts of 1978 and 1979. He taught school in 1979, at the Lake Area Vocational Technical Center in Devils Lake. Jan and Duane were married in Northwood on June 18, 1983. They make their home on the Betty Kleiter farm south of Pettibone where Duane is engaged in farming and tax preparing. CALVIN GEIER FAMILY Calvin Geier, son of Carl and Henrietta Geier, and Betty Derheim, daughter of John and Rosa (Horning) Derheim, were married Sept, 8, 1948, in Jamestown, N.D., and began farming immediately on their present farm home located 13 miles north of Pettibone. We have three children. Tim was born Dec. 28, 1951; Karen was born Sept. 6, 1954; and Jani was born Aug. 21, 1959. They attended and enjoyed school and their friends in Pettibone. Tim and Karen both graduated from Pettibone High School and Jani attended the first eight years at Pettibone and finished her last four years and graduated from Sheyenne River Academy, Harvey, N.D. Tim married Diane Hagelie, Bowdon, on Oct. 20, 1979. They have a son, Joshua. Tim farms with his dad and they live on the home farm also. Karen married Richard Crawford of Garrison, N.D., on Aug. 19, 1977. They live in Bismarck. Richard is employed with Al Kosir Firm as an architectural draftsman. Karen is an accountant in general accounting at Basin Electric. They are expecting their first child in October 1984. Jani Geier, formerly of Bismarck, has just accepted a new job, as receptionist and secretary for Becker Bros., Carpet Firm in Minneapolis, Minn. WYNGARDEN HISTORY(1960-1985) Len Wyngarden passed away in March 1968, at the age of 80. His wife, Lydia remained on the farm until moving to Bloomington, Minn., to live with her daughter, Eileen. She returned to North Dakota in 1975, and entered Golden Manor Nursing Home in Steele that fall. She lived there until her death in April 1983. Leonard (son of Len) and his wife (Barbara Vellenga) continue to live on the family homestead. The Wyngarden home was built in 1905; Leonard's daughter Jane currently resides in this house. It is the oldest utilized dwelling in Weiser Township. Leonard and Barbara have seven children. Alan, a graduate of NDSU is employed at a bank in Lakewood, Colo. Margaret (Margo) is a Registered Nurse and married to Randy Johnson. They live and work in Fargo, N.D. Steve finished college at VCSC and has worked as a technician in the areas of Denver, Colo., and Salt Lake City, Utah. Jane also graduated from NDSU and is helping farm following an IFYE Exchange to Australia. Marion completed her education at Moorhead State University and is employed as an assistant project manager for a company in Denver. Joel was born in 1969, and Lisa in 1971. They live at home and attend Pettibone School. Eileen and her husband (Warren DeKrey) now live in Bismarck, N.D., where he is president of a bank. Their five children are Ron, Del, Lorie, Kevin and Karen. Ron, wife Bonnie and their son have recently returned from working at a Bethany mission in St. Croix, one of the Virgin Islands. Del, wife Wanda and their two sons reside on the Grand Forks AFB, where he is a member of the U.S. Air Force. Lorie (Deloris Beth) is married to Robert Pope. They and their three sons live in Fargo, where Bob is employed by Honeywell. Kevin, a recent graduate of NDSU is a management trainee for a Fargo bank. Karen is a student at Concordia College and an excellent violinist like "Grandpa Len." Ralph's daughters (Connie and Pam) moved to California with their mother, the former Joyce Shockley. Connie and her husband, Bob Hunt have two sons: Christopher and Timothy. They live in Anaheim, Calif. Pam continues to live with her mother Joyce and Joyce's husband, Robert Dale in Yorba Linda, Calif. Together they own and operate a nearby coffee shop. Nick Wyngarden passed away in 1967. His wife Pearl lives in Sacramento, Calif., with their youngest daughter, Inez (Mrs. Ken Rosenthal). Chester, the oldest son, passed away in 1976. Mildred (Mrs. Lyle Parry) now lives in Lemoore, Calif. Laurence makes his home in San Ramon, Calif. Allan and Richard continue to live in Madras, Ore. George is also married and lives in California. FORREST B.LEE FAMILY Raymond and Irene Lee farmed southwest of Pettibone from 1919 to 1937. Their oldest son, Forrest, was born on July 7, 1919. He attended grade school and the first three years of high school at Pettibone. The family moved to Verndale, Minn., in 1937, and Forrest graduated from Verndale High School in 1938. In Minnesota he attended the Crosby-lronton Junior College during the 1938-39 school year. In the fall of 1939, he enrolled at St. Cloud State College from which he received a bachelor of science degree in the spring of 1942, with a biological science major. That fall and winter he taught high school science subjects at East Chain High School in southern Minnesota. From July 1943, to January 1946, he served in the armed forces. His major assignment was with the 37th Infantry Division in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Following discharge from the Army, Forrest took graduate work at the University of Minnesota and in 1948, received a Master of Science degree in Wildlife Management. In 1949, he accepted employment at St. Paul as Game Biologist for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and continued working for this department in several capacities until July 1965, at which time his position was Game Research Supervisor. In November 1952, Forrest married Janet Buscho of Blue Earth, Minn. Janet is a graduate of Macalaster College in St. Paul, and had taught high school biology at several towns in Minnesota. To them, two sons were born: Forrest, Jr., "Chip" on Jan. 3, 1954; and George, on May 22, 1959. In July 1965, the family moved to Jamestown, N.D., where Forrest had taken employment at the Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center. He worked for the center until he retired in August 1983. His work included programs for the restoration of the giant Canada goose in the Dakotas, and the Aleutian Canada goose in Alaska, where he spent considerable time starting in 1975. Following retirement, Forrest has had part time employment with the North Dakota Game and Fish Department. Forrest and Janet have made Jamestown their home, and the two sons also live in North Dakota. Chip graduated from Jamestown College with a major in business administration and is employed as office manager at the Ladish Malting Company, Spiritwood, N.D. He is married to the former Joan Grimes of Jamestown. He has a daughter, Carina; and Joan a son, Timothy Baumann, from previous marriages. George completed a wildlife technician course at the Bottineau Branch of North Dakota State University and is presently employed at Bismarck by the North Dakota Game and Fish Department. He married Virginia Kastrow of Bismarck in 1979, and they have two daughters, Jami and Amber. The Forrest Lee family is unanimous in liking North Dakota and believing it is a good place to live.
