She moved to Belcourt in 1981 and met and married William L. "Kos-ish" Davis in 1982. Bill and his former wife, Louise Ann Patnaud, had raised their family in Belcourt. Bill and Irene live in the Retirement Home. Joseph graduated from Maddock Agricultural High School, Maddock, North Dakota. There he captured a few blue ribbons for his pigs at the state fair, and played on the State Championshiop Basketball Team. After serving in World War II in Iceland and Germany, he completed an accounting course at the Wahpeton State School of Science and went on to work in Chicago for the Safeway Trucking Company. He married Florestine Grant, daughter of James Grant and Rosalie Monette of Devils Lake. He raised a family of five in Chicago, Illinois, and later moved to Salem, Oregon. Their children are: Delores, Gloria, Barbara, Patricia, and William James. Florestine (Grant) and Joseph Thomas. Dora attended Flandreau Indian High School, and completed a business course at Haskell Institute. She worked at the BIA Hospital in Belcourt, and after her marriage to Solon Hill of Wahpeton, they both were employed by the Wahpeton Indian School. Solon had served with the Construction Battalion in Guam during World War II and Dora had worked at McClelland Air Force Base first as a stenographer and later for more pay as a "Rosie the Riveter." After more than 30 years of service at Wahpeton they retired and built a home on Ottertail Lake in Minnesota. They have one son, John S. Hill. Dora died May 15, 1982. Dora is well remembered by the many who attended the Wahpeton Indian School for her efforts to ease the pain of their being away from home. Ellen Villeneuve Toupin Cossette, 1935. PIERRE TOUPIN — ELLEN VILLENEUVE COSSETTE Ellen Villeneuve Toupin Cossette was born in or near Leroy, North Dakota on January 17, 1864, the daughter of Francois Villeneuve and Justine Robillard who were from the Red River Settlement of Manitoba. Ellen met and married Pierre Toupin about 1877 in the Wild Rice area of Cass County, North Dakota. Around 1887 they moved to the Turtle Mountain area. Their children: Margaret, Francois, Milda, Alice, Joseph, Phillip and Annie. After the death of Pierre in the early 1890's, Ellen married Theodore Cossette. five children were born of this marriage, triplet boys who died in infancy, William and Selma. The family later moved to Eveleth, Minnesota. On April 16, 1940 Ellen died in Proctor, Minnesota and is buried in the Oneota Cemetery in Duluth.
