| Summary: | coffee labels and lids for an electric coffee urn. All lids and labels were turned over the company in October, 1950, and we soon received our coffee urn. During the years, we purchased twenty-four trays for lunches, and six "The Golden Book of Favorite Songs." During the 1951-52 club year, several members moved away. Mrs. John Hoffert left in 1951, Mrs. John Schneider left in June, 1952; Mrs. Nick Erck, August 1952; and Mrs. John Streifel left the fall of 1952. Some of the things our club members did during the next few years were: made homemade toys and sent them and animal crackers to the Children's Home in Fargo; fixed a booth at the Benson County Fair, June 26, 1952, of homemade playthings and package wrapping, on which we won second prize. We took a trip to the Garrison Dam on July 10, 1952. Husbands and children went along. July 22, 1953, we packed a gift of canned food and cookies and took to the Old Peoples Home at Maddock. In April 1953 a community cook book was started. Mrs. Dan Riser left us in June, 1953. The Harmony Homemakers Club disbanded in the 1959- 60 club year. About a year later, some of the ladies were again anxious to have a Homemakers Club. Mrs. Schloss was instrumental in organizing another club, called the Top- Notch Homemakers Club, organized in 1961. This club was in operation about five years, disbanding in the 1965-66 club year. Many interesting, educational and helpful projects were enjoyed plus the fun we had of working together, and helping one another. We had many good times which are still talked about. Girls' 4-H Clubs In May, 1944, a large number of girls were interested in belonging to a 4-H Club. Two clubs were organized. Mrs. J.J. Horner was leader for the Esmond Sewing Queens, a group of older girls, from 1944 to 1947. At that time the club disbanded and some of the members joined the Esmond Fairies. Mrs. Christian Schloss was club leader for the Esmond Fairies 4-H Club, a group of younger girls, from its beginning in 1944 to 1969. At the end of the 1969 club year the club was disbanded. Many ladies assisted from time to time as assistant leaders for a year to five years at a time, but Mrs. Schloss was the only twenty-five year leader. Some of the assistant leaders in the twenty-five year period were Mrs. Jerome Keller, Mrs. Donald Martin, Mrs. Clarence Jensen, Mrs. Leo Krenzel, Mrs. Irvin Marthe, Mrs. Art Rice, Mrs. Vincent Rieger, Mrs. Patrick Bartsch, Mrs. Norris Johnson, Mrs. Leo Hoffner, and Mrs. Albion Hoffner. There perhaps were more, but this is all we can recall. If we have left your name out, please forgive us. In 1970, under the leadership of Mrs. Victor Wolf and Mrs. Joe Binfet, another girls 4-H club was organized. It disbanded in 1972. When talking about the Esmond Fairies 4-H club, we think something should be said about the membership. Many years the membership was about 35 girls. We started meeting in the members' homes, then in Mrs. Schloss's home for many years, and then the last years we were fortunate in obtaining permission to meet in the hot lunch room at the school. There were between 350 and 400 different girls who belonged to the Esmond Fairies 4-H Club in the twenty-five years the club was in existence. Esmond Band at Cranberry Lake July 31,1907 Hilbert A.
