Summary:JAMES PFEIFER and LORETTA HARTL James Pfeifer, son of Frank and Mary Pfeifer, married Loretta Hartl January 7, 1942, at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Alice, North Dakota. James is a veteran of World War II. He entered the service June 9, 1942, and was stationed in Oklahoma, New Jersey, Massachusetts, North Africa, Italy, France, and Germany. He served with the 5th Army and the 36th Field Artillery and was discharged November 18, 1945. Since 1945 the Pfeifers have been farming on his father's farm, Section 20, Howes Township. This farm was once owned by R.S. Lewis. The Pfeifers have two daughters,, Cheryl and Renee. Cheryl married Robert Hager. They have two children and live in Fargo, North Dakota. Renee married Mark Fisketjon. They have one child and live in Crookston, Minnesota. RAYMOND PFEIFER and CAROLYN THOMPSON The Raymond Pfeifer Family David and Beth Stokka; John and Cheryl Pfeifer Nathan Stokka, Raymond, Carolyn, Michael Raymond Pfeifer was graduated from Buffalo High School in 1940 and then he attended Wahpeton State School of Science for two years. He worked for Remington Arms in Denver, Colorado, until he entered the Navy in 1942. He served in the Pacific area until 1945. After he was discharged, he returned to Buffalo. In 1949 he married Carolyn Thompson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.J. Thompson of Cooperstown. She had graduated from NDSU and had taught home economics in Buffalo and Jamestown before her marriage. Ray is a building superintendent for Edlund Construction Company and Carolyn teaches at Maple Valley High School. They have two children, John Raymond (Jack), who was born in 1950 and Elizabeth Anne (Beth) who was bom in 1952. Jack graduated from Buffalo High School in 1968 and served with the Army in Vietnam. He attended NDSU and graduated from Moorhead State University. He is a Manual Arts Therapist at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis. He is married to Cheryl Spitzer of Ellendale. She is a graduate of Wahpeton State School of Science and works for a brokerage firm in Minneapolis. They are the parents of one son, Michael John, who is two years old. Beth is married to David Stokka of Cooperstown, North Dakota. They have one son, Nathan David, who is two years old. Beth and David are both graduates of NDSU. Beth taught English and Speech at LaMoure, North Dakota, before her marriage. David farms in the Sutton-Binford area. VERNON PFEIFER and JOSEPHINE KREUTZER Vernon Pfeifer was born December 10, 1925, and attended school in Buffalo. After his graduation from high school, he enlisted in the Navy and entered the service December 15, 1943. When he was discharged, he attended Interstate Business College in Fargo. Vernon then joined the Air Force and made this his career. He retired after twenty years of service October 1, 1968. Vernon met Josephine Kreutzer in Denver, Colorado. She was originally from Hays, Kansas. She was born October 12, 1927. They were married August 3, 1951, in California and they had six children. Pamela was born February 27, 1953, in England; Lora was born April 28, 1954, in Denver, Colorado; Douglass was born May 12, 1955, in Denver, Colorado; Randall was born June 12, 1956, in Sacramento, California; Jay was born March 3, 1959, in Glasgow, Montana; and Kevin was born March 22, 1961, in Newfoundland. The family was also stationed in Arizona, Texas and Italy. They moved back to Buffalo in 1968. Vernon worked for a short time as janitor at the elementary school and was working for the Inter-Community Telephone Company at the time of his death October 26, 1971. His family continued to reside in Buffalo. Pam graduated from Interstate Business College. She married Michael Jorgensen and now lives in Sacramento, California. Lora graduated from NDSU, married Joseph Killoran, and they live in Buffalo. They have a son, Nickolas. Douglass graduated from MSU and lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Randy attended VCSC and married Jani Flickinger of Colgate, North Dakota. They live in Sacramento, California. Jay attended Devils Lake Regional College and Kevin is attending NDSS at Wahpeton. VICTOR PFEIFER and VERNA GILLUND Victor Pfeifer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pfeifer, Alice, North Dakota, was born May 22, 1912. He resided on a farm near Alice. Victor attended grade school at a country school. He attended high school for two years at Buffalo, North Dakota. July 16, 1938, he married Verna Lorraine Gillund of Nome, North Dakota. They have two daughters, Muriel Verdoia of Coeur-D-Alene, Idaho, and Glenda Fayard of Los Gatos, California. The Pfeifers have four grandsons. Vic and Verna farmed at Buffalo from 1939 to 1975 at which time they retired. Victor passed away November 4, 1977.
