The American Legion Auxiliary was organized March 18, 1924, at a meeting in the Aneta schoolhouse. Charter was received from National April 15, 1924. Charter members of the chapter were: Mrs. Ed Nelson, Mrs. Grace Lanz, Mrs. N.J. Rademaker, Mrs. Lewis Johnson, Mrs. C. Lowen, Mrs. Clara Scott, Mrs. O.M. Jensen, Mrs. C.L. Engelstad, Mrs. Carl Thingstad, Helen Murphy, Mrs. A.B. Hirtson, Mrs. W. T. Cameron, Mrs. A. Paulson, Mrs. Martha Ulvick, Mrs. Wallace E. Smith, Mrs. Thor Ringstad, Mrs. Clara Kloster, Mrs. Loretta Ulvick and Lea Clark. Five charter members are still living. The projects of the Auxiliary over the years have been working with the Red Cross, Poppy poster contest, selling poppies and Forget-Me- Nots, Community betterment, making articles for Fargo Veterans Hospital. In 1930, they had their first adopted child & have carried on the work since. Gifts have been sent to Veteran hospitals & food baskets given to needy families at Christmas and have met all requirements of chapter. They have paid Gold Star members dues and have sent a girl to Girls State since 1954. Special recognitions: Mrs. L. Hanson & Mrs. Esther Palmer, Color Bearers at District meeting, Thelma Otterson-Chaplain at district meeting, Julia Brekkc-State Treas. Ruby Stein, V.P. of District. Gold Star members: Mrs. Ole Hovde, Mrs. Wallace Smith, Mrs. Morris Peterson, Mrs. Franklin. Unit membership is 54. Present officers are Pres. Adeline Gustafson, 1st VP Yvonne Hoge, 2nd VP Vera Lind, Sec. Bertha Linnell, Treas. Betty Lavanger, Chaplain Thelma Otterson, Sgt. at Arms, Esther Palmer, Historian, Marie Smith. 1924 officers: A.
