The history of Sundahl Lutheran Congregation dates from July 26, 1885 when a group of early settlers met at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Iver Swenson, located about six miles northeast of Aneta, to organize a congregation. The following were in attendance at this meeting; Mr, and Mrs. Iver Swenson and four children, Mr. & Mrs. Ole Olson and five children, Mr. & Mrs. Ingebrit Locken and two children, Mr. John Mehle, Mr. S. S. Aas, and Miss Maren Aas. These people then are considered as the Charter members of Sundahl Lutheran Church. Plans for a church building were made in 1896 and it was built in 1897 at the cost of approximately $2,500.
