The history of Sundahl Lutheran Congregation dates from July 26, 1885 when a group of early settlers met at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Iver Swenson, located about six miles northeast of Aneta, to organize a congregation. The following were in attendance at this meeting; Mr, and Mrs. Iver Swenson and four children, Mr. & Mrs. Ole Olson and five children, Mr. & Mrs. Ingebrit Locken and two children, Mr. John Mehle, Mr. S. S. Aas, and Miss Maren Aas. These people then are considered as the Charter members of Sundahl Lutheran Church. Plans for a church building were made in 1896 and it was built in 1897 at the cost of approximately $2,500. Hard times set in and the church was not completed until early 1906, at which time it was dedicated on July 10th by Rev. T. H. Dahle, then president of the Norwegian Lutheran Church of America. Services were conducted in the Norwegian language until 1909 when Rev. O.J. Overbo occasionally conducted English services until 1938 when English was used entirely. Beginning in 1885 with nine adult members, it now numbers more than 242 confirmed members. Pastors who have served are; Ibriam L. Lundeby, 1885-1896; H. S. Quan- beck, 1986-1899; S. S. Wold, 1899-1906; A. A. Wold, 1906-1909; Ole J. Overbo, 1909-1918; E. C. Tollefson, 1918-1926; A.O. Odegaard, 1927-1931; S. T. Nelson, 1932-1937; Wm. J. E. Madson, 1938- 1948; Carl W. Holm, 1948-1952; John Helgeson, (Student Pastor) 1952-1953; Ralph Johnshoy, 1953- 1957; Einar Fetterman, 1957-1964; and Arlyn Anfinrud, 1965---. On February 20, 1949, fire destroyed the original church.
