He is a member of the Minnesota State Pharmaceutical Association and Kappa Psi Fraternity. In 1984, Adelle was appointed to a task force to establish a library in Hector. They now have a beautiful facility. She served as the president of the local library board, as well as the city's representative on the Regional Library Board. She belongs to the Good Neighbor Garden Club of Hector, Bird Island and Olivia; the Minnesota State Horticultural Society; and serves as vice-president of the Ladies Association of the Oakdale Country Club. In April, 1987, she was featured in the Lifestyles section ofthe New Ulm Journal on Pysanky - Ukranian Easter Egg Decorating. Adelle does demonstrations, as well as sells them in their store. In 1976, she was listed in the Outstanding Young Women of America Publication. QUINN and PENNY (Fossen) JANKE Quinn and Penny Janke Penny Jean Fossen was born on February 27, 1963, at Harvey, ND, to Odin and Marlys (Olson) Fossen of Heimdal, ND. She was baptized at the Fairview Lutheran Church, rural Maddock She was confirmed at North Viking in 1978, and graduated from Maddock High School in 1981. She was a member of the National Guard for two and one-half years. She is now in the Air Force, stationed at Grand Forks, ND. Penny and Quinn Luke Janke were married on April 28, 1986, at Grand Forks. Quinn was born on June 1, 1963, to Paul and Alice (Fiechtener) Janke of Fredonia, ND. He was confirmed at the Martin Lutheran Church in Fredonia and graduated in 1981 from Gackle High School. He entered the air force on July 9, 1981, and has been stationed at the Grand Forks Air Force Base since March, 1982. Brand! Jean Janke The Jankes have one daughter, Brandi Jean, born on August 15, 1986. ANTON and VELVA (Sorlie) JOHANSEN Anton spent some time at the Cando, ND, nursing home. He passed away on November 13, 1976. Funeral services were held at the North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock, where they were members. He is buried in the Maddock Cemetery, south of Maddock, beside his first wife, Gladys Johansen, who passed away on September 9, 1967. Velva continued to live at her Maddock apartment until August 5, 1985, when she moved to Fargo to be closer to her family. She is now living at the Fargo High Rise. MARTIN and SUSAN (Symes) OLSON Written by Velva Marie (Olson Sorlie) Johansen Velva Sorlie and Anton Johansen wedding, September 3,1969, with witnesses, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Halvorson. On September 3,1969, Velva Marie (Olson) Sorlie and Anton Johansen were married at the Harvey Bethel Lutheran Church in Harvey, ND. They were married by the Rev. Oscar Johnson. They lived at Donald Sorlie's near Harwood, ND, until 1972. Anton worked at the West Fargo Stockyards for about three years. Then he retired from the stockyard work and they moved to Maddock, where he had a farm rented out They had an apartment at the Moeller Home Apartments. Martin and Susan Olson Wedding Announcement, November 25, 1902: Mrs. Mariette Symes, Renville MN, requests the honor of your presence at the marriage of her daughter, Susan Symes, to Mr. Martin Olson on Tuesday, November 25, 1902, at the home of the groom at 3 o'clock, Maddock ND, followed with a dance in the Maddock Hall. Their witnesses were Christi Sorlie and Martin Hellesvig. Susan and Martin came from Renville, MN, to Maddock Martin had been living on a farm for a while and Susan came later. They lived on a farm about two miles southwest of Maddock. Er- win Westby has the farm now. A son, Lynne Carlile, was born on August 3, 1903. He was baptized at home by Rev. Oksendahl, but lived only a short time. He passed away on November 30, at 8:00 a.m., and is buried at the Maddock Cemetery, 152 Scanned with a Zeutschel Zeta book scanner at 300 dpi.
