Summary:LAWRENCE AND GLADYS EARLES Lawrence F. Earles of Palmer, Alaska, is a retired teamster and works with burls from birch and spruce trees. "Earles Burls" are well-known throughout the valley. Gladys is a retired teacher and received her bachelor and master of science degrees from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, Alaska. In 1972, she was selected as an Outstanding Elementary Teacher in America. Lawrence and Gladys had eight children: Patsy, Peggy, Larry, Janice, Fred, Ricky, Dan and Tim. Patsy L. Tampke lives in Anchorage, Alaska. She is owner and secretary-treasurer of Tampke Construction Company; partner and bookkeeper of Steward Tampke JV; vice president and manager of Medical Data Banc, Incorporated. Peggy Scrimenti lives on Staten Island, New York, and is a dietetic assistant at a retirement home on Staten Island. Larry lives at Fairbanks, and is a teamster shop steward and expeditor for Artie Slope, Alaska General, Fairbanks and North Slope. Janice Wright live in Palmer, Alaska, and is a nurses aide in the Palmer Hospital. Fred lives in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. Ricky is deceased. Dan and Tim live at home. (4-3-82) DANIEL ECKERT-JESSICA DOBLER Dan is the son of Don and Betty Lentz Eckert. He attended school in Absaraka, North Dakota, and Ayr, North Dakota and graduated from Page, North Dakota High School. He graduated from North Dakota State School of Science at Wahpeton, North Dakota. Dan married Jessica Dobler from Ellendale, North Dakota. Jess is the daughter of Gideon and Maggie Dobler. Jess attended school in Jamestown and Ellendale, and graduated from NDSSS. Dan was in the United States Army and was stationed in Oklahoma. He and his family spent a vear in Germany. Dan and Jess have two children, Jason and Tanya. They farm and raise registered Polled Herefords. Dan and Jess and family are members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ayr. Dan isamemberoftheErie North Dakota American Legion and a member of the Central Cass School Board, Casselton, North Dakota. (1 982) DAVID AND RHONDA ECKERT David, son of Glenn and Wilma Waterson Eckert graduated from Ayr High School, Ayr, North Dakota, and attended Valley City State College, Valley City, North Dakota. Dave has lived and worked in the Frazee, Minnesota area as a school teacher for 1 3 years. He and Rhonda were married six years ago and moved to a farm just outside of Frazee, where they have been milking cows for the past two years. We have three children one boy and two girls. Shawn is four, Skye is three and Sunny is ten months old. They love the outdoor just as the parents do. Dave has many good memories of growing up in Ayr and talks of them often. Jason, Jessica, Tanya, Ryan Alyssa, Claudia, Donovan Donald Eckert, son of Robert and Flora Hanson Eckert, graduated from Ayr High School, Ayr, North Dakota, in 1943, and attended Hanson Auto Mechanic School, Fargo, North Dakota. Don married Betty Lentz, daughter of Edward and Henrietta Lentz, of Ayr, North Dakota. Betty graduated from Ayr High School in 1943, and attended Valley City State College, Valley City, North Dakota, and taught school in Barnes County, North Dakota. Don started farming after his father's death in 1943, and has been active in the community. Don has served on the Absaraka Telephone Board and the Absaraka School Board. HewastheAssessorin Empire Township for 1 6 years. Don was on the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service, Cass County Board, and is on the Red River Valley Fair Board. At the present time he is serving on the Cass County Commission and is the chairman. Don and Betty have two children: Claudia married Don DeJong and they have three children; Dan married Jessica Dobler and they have two children. Dan and Jess Eckert and family live on the same farmstead as Don and Betty. Jason, son of Dan and Jess is the fifth generation of Eckerts to live on the farmstead.
