Besides his sister, Gladys, who resides with him, he has one brother, Sigurd, who also lives in the Page community, and two sisters, Grace and Ovedia. Grace, now Mrs. Gene Markwood, lives and teaches at Johnstown, N. Dak., and Ovedia, now Mrs. Melvin Mullet, lives near Northwood, N. Dak. Alvin is a member of the Page Township Board of Supervisors. The family were confirmed in the Elm River Lutheran Church at Galesburg, N. Dak. SIGURD GEORGE LANGDAHL Sigurd George Langdahl was born on his parents' farm north of Page and has lived in this community all his life. He married Elene Irene Satrom, who also had been born and raised on the farm of her parents, which also was north of Page. Mr. Langdahl has served on the Rochester Township board for the past twelve years, and has also served on the school board in Page Township for a number of years. The family belongs to the Page Lutheran Church. Mr. and Mrs. Langdahl are the parents of six children. Elmer George married Gwen Wright, and lives in Colgate; they have two boys. Elmer drives a school bus and helps at home with the farming. Allan Albert, employed at the John Deere Implement shop at Page, married Janice Thielman; they have six children. Sigurd Jr., employed in the office of Mas- sey Harris at Fargo, married Arlene Bayman; they have two children. Orville Marlyn, a graduate of Jamestown College and now employed at Boeing Aircraft of Seattle, Washington, married Marcy Duggan; they have two children. Irene Ruth, a graduate of Valley City State Teachers College, is now teaching at Finley, North Dakota. Larry Lyle lives at home, being a student at Page high school. NORMAN LEIDALL Norman Leidall was born Nov. 3, 1919. He married June Larson of Dickey, N. Dak. They spent the first few years of their married life farming near Marion and later Norman was hired at the J. C. Miller elevator in Marion. He was transferred to Walden in June, 1949, where at present, he is manager for the J. C. Miller Elevator Co. The Leidall children are Linda, Leroy, William, Gregory, Timothy, Kent, and Kevin. Mrs. Leidall is active in American Legion Auxiliary and the family are members of the Page Lutheran Church. MAYNARD C. LINDSEY Maynard Lindsey, life-long Page resident, was born Nov. 12, 1912. After graduating from Page High School, he attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, and was graduated there in 1934. That same year he received his mortician's license and entered the Funeral Home business with his father, R. C. Lindsey. June 16, 1932, Maynard married Constance Rockne of Mayville, N. Dak. In 1933, she also attended Worsham College, taking the Restorative Art Course. In 1938 he entered the theatre business and in 1944 the store business, which was founded by his grandfather, W. J. Thompson. Maynard's civic activities have been many and varied. Working with Boy Scouts, he was the first Cub Scouts Master. Connie was a den mother for many years. He is a member of the Page Health Association and of the Wild Life Club. He was President of the Civic Club and Chairman of the Town Board, and was active on the Auditorium Committee at the time it was constructed. He also served as Fire Chief. Maynard remembers riding to the Fourth of July celebration at Erie with his dad, who was Fire Chief when the first Page fire truck was new. By coincidence Maynard was Fire Chief when the second new truck was purchased. Lindseys have two sons, Richard, now married to Donna Mae Erickson of Ayr, N. Dak.; and Mark. JOSEPH LONG Joseph Long is the son of John Long a pioneer, of the Page area, who came here in 1881. Joseph was born at Paqe and has lived here all his life. He is married to the former Evelyn Young of Hope, N. Dak. The couple have six children—Donald, a lieutenant in the U. S. Army now stationed in Greenland; Mrs. Marlene Woodbury of Page; the twins, Joseph, Jr., at present in Pierre, S. Dak., Mrs. Joann Rueckert of Ayr, N. Dak.; Claudia and Kim. Mr. Long has been an employee of the G. N. Railway for twenty-one years. LEO LONG Leo Long was born near Page on the farm where he now lives. He married Adeline Goss of Hunter, N. Dak., in 1938. They lived in Hunter until 1940 when they moved to Page to the farm which his father, Peter Long, had developed since the early homesteading days. Both Leo's father and grandfather, James Long, homesteaded in the vicinity of Page. They have two children, Paula Mae and Marilyn Jean. Politically, Mr. Leo Long is a Democrat. PETER R. LONG Peter R. Long was born August 5, 1873, in LaSalle, III., as the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Long, Sr. He came to Page from Illinois in 1882. His wife, 182 Scanned with a Zeutschel Zeta book scanner at 300 dpi.
