Summary:Valley City normal school, the Agricultural College at Fargo, and the North Dakota University at Grand Forks. Four of the children were graduates of tne normal school at Valley City, and four received degrees either at the Agricultural College or University and all received educations equivalent to a normal school training. Mr. Hutchinson died on October 15, 1927. Mrs. Hutchinson died on November 28, 1947. The children now living are located as follows: . .F. V. Hutcninson, president and general manager of the Northern School Supply Co., with establishments in Fargo, N. D., Great Falls, Montana, Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington, resides in Portland, Oregon; William H. Hutchinson, Judge of the District Court, Wahpeton, North Dakota; Richard C. Hutchinson, engineer and contractor of New Orleans, Louisiana; Ella Stone (Mrs. F. D. Stone, Mr. Stone being sales manager of the Land O'Lakes Creamery Co.) Minneapolis, Minnesota; Dorotny Stone (Mrs. B. N. Stone. Mr. Stone being manager of an egg drying plant) Oconto, Wisconsin; Margaret Westley (widow of the late Dr. M. D. Westley of Cooperstown) superintendent of personnel of the Wright Hospital, Fergus Falls, Minnesota; Grace Dowen (Mrs. Thomas Dowen, Mr. Dow- en now engaged as the owner of a general garage) Lewistown, Montana; Jean Ely (Mrs. C. B. Ely, whose husband is office administrator of the Nortnern School Supply Co. in Great Falls, Montana. There are 23 living grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Upon the death of Mr. Hutchinson it was said of him in the LaMoure Chronicle: "Mr. Hutchinson took a noteworthy part in the upbuilding of LaMoure County, he experienced the hardships of early days, and confident through all trials he added to his land holdings and proved the worth and possibilities of soil in this region. Firm in his political convictions, decisive in his conclusions he was deservedly honored with positions of public trust. He reared a family of several children to promising estate. Truly he was a good citizen who left his community and state better and farther advanced for his having lived in it." Mr. and Mrs. Minius Anderson Minus Anderson was born in Bornholm, Denmark in 1878, where he grew to manhood. In 1901 at the age of 22 Minius came to America. He spent the first few years working for A. W. Cunningham near Grand Rapids, N. D. He spent one winter working in the Minnesota woods. He and Jens Jensen started farming in Greenland township in 1905; later they split partnership and Minius rented the farm now occupied by Nick Lutgen. In 1906 he married Anna Jensen, who also came from Bornholm, Denmark in 1905. They rented a farm from Pete Knutsen. In 1911 he moved to the Wells farm, now farmed by Alvin Sandness. 1916 he built his own place, three miles northeast of Marion in Prairie Township where he is still living at the present time. Six children were born to the Andersons: Elmer (Deceased) in 1923; (Edtih) Mrs. Leonard Weight, Sanborn, N. D.; Raymond of Marion; Orlo who died in service of his country in 1944. Irvin at home and Elmira, Seattle, Wash. At the time this book is published Mrs. Anderson is visiting friends and relatives in their home country, Denmark. Mr. and Mrs. Jens Jensen Jens Jensen was born March 28, 1875, in Bornholm, Denmark, where he grew to manhood. He came to the United States in 1901 in the late spring. After making trip across crounty from New York, he settled in LaMoure county. He spent the first few years working for Nels Nelson and Peter Knutson, during this time he also spent a winter working in the Minnesota woods. He and Minius Anderson (with whom he came from Denmark) started farming in Greenland township in 1905. During this same year Mary Anderson came to the United States from Bornholm, Denmark. She and Mr. Jensen were mar ried and they settled on the Fred Johnston farm in LaMoure County. Later he moved to Barnes County where he purchased a farm. Four children were born to this union. Ovie, Marion, Henning, Marion, (Jennie) Mrs. Lester Wilson, Seattle Wash. (Agnes) Mrs. E. L. Baertsch, Marion Mrs. Jensen passed away in 1920 at the age of .33 From that time on Mr. Jensen farmed until the children were all grown. He has now retired and is making hishome with his daughter in Seattle, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. William W. Keene Mr. and Mrs. William Keene were born 1862 in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, south of St. Paul. There they grew up and were married Oct. 6, 1885. Seven children were born to this union and are all living. Walter, Mrs. Myrtle Wood, Mrs. Ruth Wyatt, Mrs. Guy Smith (Mable), residing in Marion; John, Mrs. F. D. Valenta (Bessie) at Minneapolis, and Mrs. E. R. Wilke (Jessie) at Glueck, Minn. Mr. Keene operated a large dairy farm until 1903 when he had the misfortune of having the fingers of his right hand removed in a buzz saw while helping a neighbor saw wood. He was unable to keep on with his dairy farm, so he sold it and came to Marion in 1905. He rented the Henry Struble farm and several 72 Scanned with a Zeutschel Zeta book scanner at 300 dpi.
