Summary:1894. Of this union four children were born, Leonard, Francis, Paul Alvin and Marie. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Melanson and Marie moved to Cornelius, Oregon, in 1922 where they lived until Paul passed away in 1931. Mrs. Melanson is living with Marie at Coos Bay, Oregon, at the present time. Leonard Melanson married Evata Wadeson of Jamestown, N. D., and is now living in Cornelius, Oregon. He is a World War I veteran having served in France. Francis H. Melanson married Blanche E. Mc- Cleary of Adrian, N. D., in 1918. Three children were born of this union, Lawrence, Donald and Eileen. Francis lived on the old homestead in Section 32 Greenland until he passed away accidentally in 1937. His family continued to live there, his sons carrying on the farming. At the present time Mrs. Blanche Melanson is living with Lawrence at Fargo, N. D. Donald, who married Beatrice Draheim is living on the old homestead, where Eileen now Mrs. William Kosse is also living. Paul Alvin Melanson married and has four children, Marjorie, Irene, Helen and Virginia. He and his family lived for a time on part of the homestead later moving to Lucca,N. D., Rock Island, 111., Milaca, Minn., and at present living in Minneapolis, Minn. Marjorie, now Mrs. Walter Bender, lives at Rock Island, 111. Irene now Mrs. Ray Thompson lives at New Rockford, 111. Helen, now Mrs. Francis Llvelett, lives at Milaca, Minn., and Virginia now Mrs. James Wills, lives at Milaca, Minn. Marie Antonette Melanson now Mrs. Joseph Morriessey has three children: Joanne Marie, Mary Claire and Michael. She is now living at Coos Bay, Oregon, with her family and mother. However she was born and lived on the homestead near Marion seven years before moving to Oregon with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ole Johnson Mr. and Mrs. Johnson came to this country from Toten, Levastotious, Norway, on the seventh of July, 1905, landing in Philadelphia. They came directly to Marion, staying with Mrs. Johnsons uncle, Peter Hendrickson, and working there for six months. Following this they rented land from Peter Knudson and made their home in a cook car west of town until the fall when Knudson replaced it with a remodeled schoolhouse. They stayed on this farm for 21 years after which they moved to the Bakke farm, which was closer to town, staying there for six years. The coming years brought many changes, their good and bad years until Ole's health made it hard for him to carry on the farm work so in 1928 they decided to move to Marion after spend ing the winter in Fargo with their son. Ole opened a cream station then for the Fairmont Creamery and continued until 1930 in this work. Following this he worked for Henry Meyer in the cream station and Henry still calls on him to help out. Ole is still the willing worker, but years will take their toll and it is now rather hard for him to get around, but his health otherwise is good. Mrs. Johnson has always been his good helpmate and many neighbors and friends have had to call on her for help. She has ushered many new lives into this world, quite a number of whom are still living here. She was always willing and never too busy to help someone, be it day or night. They are both members of the Lutheran church here and Mrs. Johnson has always been a good faithful church and Ladies Aid worker. They have on son, Henry, who came with them from Norway when he was six years old. He was one of the members of the first Confirmation class in the Lutheran Church here. At present he and his family are living in Gold Hill, Oregon. They have three children, a boy and a girl who are both married, arid another boy at home. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Angevine Alfred Angevine was born at Wallace, Nova Scotia, September 1, 1844. He was married to Adeline McCulloch March 12, 1865. She was born at DeBert, Nova Scotia, June 22, 1845. Five children were born, Mrs. Olive McCully, Jamestown; Mrs. Ida Jones, Marion; Alden; Frank and Edna, Marion. In 1881 he came to LaMoure, and followed his trade as a carpenter. In 1883 his family came from Nova Scotia, that year he homesteaded the southwest quarter section 34 Greenland Township. They farmed for 20 years, then oame to Marion to engage in business for several years, dealing in wool, feed and flour. Later the lumber yard was purchased with his son Frank and Charles McCully, forming a company. After disposing of the lumber business, he made cement blocks for several years. He built the home which is now owned by Rob Leidall. In the spring of 1911 they moved to a farm near Parkbeg, Canada, where they made their home for many years. Mr. Angevine died April 15, 1921, Mrs. Angevine died Nov. 3, 1932. John C. Arduser and Maggie Arduser John C. Arduser, of Swiss parentage, was born in Buffalo County, Wisconsin, on June 25, 1871. He first came to North Dakota in the year 1887 and worked in the. harvest fields near Wimbledon. He returned to his home the following winter. In the year 1892 he returned to North Dakota and in February of 1893 was married to 63 Scanned with a Zeutschel Zeta book scanner at 300 dpi. Edited in Multi-page TIFF Editor.
