Their son Andrew bought the farm where they (Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Erickson) still reside. + + + Erick H. Erickson Erick H. Erickson came to this country in 1882 from Mora, Sweden. He arrived with only 25c in his pocket. He got a job as a blacksmith on the railroad. In 1888, he filed on his claim in West Antelope Township. His brother, Halford Erickson, had a store and post office in Valhalla Township, Wells County. When Halford quit the store Erick bought it and moved it home. It is the present house. Helga Christine Thomas was three years old when her folks came from Lofoten, Norway. They settled on a farm six miles west of Devils Lake on Six Mile Bay. Helga homesteaded on 80 acres in Wells County which is the farm Gust Anderson farms. It is four miles north of Bremen. Erick H. Erickson and Helga Christine Thomas were married on Oct. 25,1907. They had five children: Edward, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Luther (Evelyn) Quist, Barrett, Minn.; Florence, Altamonte Springs, Fla.; Arthur Orville, Devils Lake; and Erik Verner, St. Paul, Minn. + + + Lars Erickson Lars Erickson was born in Dalarne, Sweden in 1876, where he attended school and was confirmed. In 1897 he came to the United States to Ashland, Wise where he worked in a lumber camp. He left there the same year to file on land in Isabel Township, then returned to the lumber camp in the fall and returning in the spring to build, break sod and seed wheat. He did this for three years before making his home in Isabel full time. His neighbors were his brother Alex, John Heed, Andrew Smith, John Hoberg and Pete Smith. They helped each other to build their shacks, and sod barns and to break the sod. Anna Smith was born in 1876 in Dalarne, Sweden where she attended school and was confirmed. In April, 1902, she came to the United States with her uncle, Andrew Smith and family. She did hair work in Sweden and this country, which consisted of watch chains for men and brooches, braids and etc. for women. In 1903, she was united in marriage to Lars Erickson. To this union nine children were born: Arthur, Einar, Alyce (Mrs. Harry Staaf), Lilly (Mrs. Ivend Holten), Robert, Gust, Leonard, Wilard and a baby That died. Einar and Lilly passed away as adults. Mr. and Mrs. Lars Erickson were charter members of the Vasa Lutheran Church and Mrs. Erickson was a charter member of the Vasa Ladies Aid. Lars served on the school board for several years. They farmed in Isabel Township until 1927 when they moved to Mahtowa, Minn, where they farmed for several years. They later moved to Fergus Falls where he-worked at the State Hospital. He also worked at the State Hospital in Jamestown until he retired because of his health. Lars passed away in 1955 and his wife in 1964. + + + Milton Erickson Family Milton Erickson was born on a farm in Isabel Township on September 16, 1930 to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew S. Erickson (mother Freda O. Smith). He presently farms in partnership with his brother Kenneth on this farm. Milton has another brother Gunnar, Minneapolis, Minn, and a sister, Sylvia (Mrs. Curtis Benson), Fargo. Milton was baptized and confirmed in the Vasa Lutheran Church in Isabel Township. He attended school in Isabel for 10 years and then 2 years at the BCATS in Maddock, graduating in 1948. Darlene V. Liudahl Erickson was born on a farm in South Viking Township on May 30, 1937 to Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Liudahl. She was baptized and confirmed in the South Viking Lutheran Church. She attended grade school in South Viking and graduated from BCATS in Maddock in 1955. She graduated from NDSU with a B.S. in Home Economics Education in 1960. In 1963, she was an International Farm Youth Exchange Student to Sweden. On December 31, 1963, they were married in the South Viking Lutheran Church. Three children have been born to them: Holly Marie, November 26, 1964; Ron Andrew, February 23, 1966; and Beth Annette, March 8, 1970. They are all members of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Esmond. + + + R. Kenneth Erickson Kenneth Erickson was born March 24, 1929, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew S. Erickson, in Isabel Township. With the exception of military service during the Korean Conflict he has spent his life on his parental farm which he now owns and operates with his brother Milton. He has served on local church and community boards, including 9 years on the Maddock Oil Company Board. He also has a sister, Sylvia (Mrs. Curtis Benson), Fargo, and a brother Gunnar, of Minneapolis. + + + Peder Erickson Family Peder B. Erickson was born in Norway in 1881. In 1882 he and his family migrated to America and moved to Minnesota where they lived until 1897 when they moved to a homestead west of Esmond, in the Buffalo Lake area. He married Gurine Brandvold, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christ Brandvold of Hesper. They lived 3 miles southwest of Maddock where they raised 6 children. They are as follows: Benard Erickson, Boring, Ore.; Thorvald Erickson, Gresham, Ore.; Gehard Erickson, North Plains, Ore.; Mrs. Orville Westby (Olga), Boring, Ore.; Mrs. Errette Turner (Anna), Sultan, Wash, and Edwin Erickson, Portland, Ore. Peder farmed and worked as a drayman and also helped with 342 Scanned with a Zeutschel Zeta book scanner at 300 dpi. Edited with Multi-Page TIFF Editor.
